ASICS is a very technical brand that includes a lot of features from anything from their entry level shoes to maximum features in their top of the range ones.
Below is a summary to explain what these all mean and where they appear in the shoe.
P.H.F. - PERSONAL HEEL FIT:
This is a special foam heel construction that is designed to give you a personal and more fitted feel around your heel to reduce the chance of slippage and irritation.
HEEL CLUTCHING SYSTEM:
An external Pebax Heel Clutching System which works like an exoskeleton, providing support while clearing the heel area of a bulky internal structure. This innovation makes the shoe lighter and eliminates almost everything that might cause blisters or chaffing.
DISCRETE EYELETS LACING SYSTEM:
Independently placed eyelets disburse lace tension, creating a customised fitting environment and enhanced upper comfort.
Waterproof and breathable upper designed to protect the foot during extreme weather conditions.
A lacing system that follows the curve on top of the foot in a natural way, to ensure a perfect fit and less friction.
A moulded midsole component engineered for specific foot types to enhance guidance and fit.
This is a special material that enhances visibility in dark and low light conditions.
The Biomorphic technology is incorporated into the upper where the areas of highest deformation are found. This ensures a better fit, improved comfort, less risk of injury and enhanced performance.
ANTI GRAVEL TONGUE:
A special tongue construction that prevents clay entering the shoe.
INNER LOCK LACING:
This lacing system provides trail walkers/runners with ankle support and stability. Enhanced support and protection from movement inside the shoe is provided by two straps. By lacing the shoe, the two straps wrap around the foot and provide a secured fit and support.
This is a feature especially designed for Nordic Walking, which will prevent your poles from becoming caught up in the shoe-laces.
This treatment on nano scale gives the fabric a water resistant finish without affecting the fabric's properties.
This is an ASICS system that is comprised of 2 different density of midsoles that is designed to help with over-pronation.
For improved arch support and torsional stability, this dual-density system is softer on the lateral side and firmer on the medial side.
A moulded midsole component by ASICS that is engineered for specific foot types to enhance guidance and fit whilst running.
This cushioning material provides excellent lightweight cushioning for the runner. It provides shock absorption and excellent bounce back and durability.
This system creates a pocket between the Trusstic system and the midsole which allows for more efficiency when running.
Triple density midsole to enhance guidance and cut back motion.
This is a supreme midsole material that improves bounce-back characteristics and decreases midsole breakdown when landing and taking off.
This component is under the midsole area which provides stability and helps to control torsion in the foot when running.
This insole for trainers helps to increase cushioning and create a cooler, drier, healthier shoe environment
DISCRETE SOLE (REARFOOT):
A unique sole construction that provides supreme load distribution, cushioning and guidance.
DISCRETE SOLE (FOREFOOT):
I.G.S. (IMPACT GUIDANCE SYSTEM):
The ASICS Impact Guidance System or I.G.S. is a technical shoe design philosophy that allows the athlete’s foot to perform in a more natural manner. ASICS high-tech I.G.S. shoes are constructed in a way that enhances natural “gait”.
The propulsion plate is a special hardened unit that has been placed in the forefoot for a more efficient propulsion phase.
PROPULSION TRUSSTIC SYSTEM:
The ASICS Propulsion Trusstic System mirrors the functions of the ligaments in the foot. It helps the foot transform from a flexible structure, for shock absorption through heel strike and mid-stance, into a powerful, rigid lever needed for forward propulsion. You can find this technology on shoes such as GEL-EXCEL33
ROCK PROTECTION PLATE:
Protects the foot against sharp objects such as rocks and branches.
The supreme ASICS midsole material used as lasting technology enhances comfort by improved cushioning and/or stability through the use of different densities.
A 10mm difference in height between heel and forefoot, offering the best biomechanical positions, enhancing forward motion, and reducing load on the achilles tendons, calf muscles, hamstring and back.
GENDER SPECIFIC SPACE TRUSSTIC:
Recognises the normal periodic changes in the shape of the woman's arch and provides for the controlled deformation of the arch into the space within the system.
GENDER SPECIFIC FOREFOOT CUSHIONING:
A top layer of injected Solyte provides a cushioned platform feel in the forefoot. Women's models feature a lower density for improved cushioning and forefoot comfort.
3mm of additional height in heel area on women's models helps to relieve achilles tension.
SOFT TOP DUOMAX SYSTEM:
A next generation DuoMax system which provides greater comfort and enhances gait efficiency.
Board lasting in the heel and slip lasting in the forefoot to provide stability and flexibility.
The upper is wrapped and stitched before it is glued to the midsole to provide lightweight feel and excellent flexibility.
Lightweight and flexible. The upper is wrapped and stitched before it is glued to the midsole.
CALIFORNIA SLIP LASTING:
For stability and comfort. The upper is stitched around a canvas or EVA board and directly attached to the midsole.
Employs 45 degree Solyte lasting materials for a soft platform feel.
Employs 55 degree Solyte lasting materials for a soft but stable platform feel.
Employs 65 degree Solyte lasting materials for a firmer and more stable platform feel.
Employs 45 degree SpEVA lasting materials for a soft platform feel.
Employs 55 degree SpEVA lasting materials for a soft but stable platform feel.
Employs 65 degree SpEVA lasting materials for a firmer and more stable platform feel.
The ASICS GEL system is based on a special kind of silicone that enables optimal shock absorption when landing and taking off. Gel units are strategically placed in the midsole and designed to enable specific functions and positions when running.
ASICS High Abrasion Resistance rubber is a tough rubber compound used at the heavy contact areas of the outsole. Helps to reduce excessive wear.
This is a thinner and lighter version of ASICS High Abrasion Resistance rubber. It is placed on heavy contact areas of the outsole to reduce excessive wear.
This is a blown AHAR rubber outsole material with high abrasion-resistant qualities for added durability, combined with a comfortable, cushioned ride helping you with your run.
Outsole construction that offers lightweight flexibility and traction reducing the chance of injury.
These are located in the forefoot and/or rearfoot for increased flexibility and cushioning in the sole unit when running. This helps the shoe to move with your foot more.
WET GRIP RUBBER:
This is an outsole made from a special blend of components designed to enhance traction when running – even on a wet surface which helps to reduce the chance of injury.
A slightly angled and asymmetric heel that offers smoother transition from impact to toe-off. It also reduces the risk of overpronation.
TRAIL SENSOR SYSTEM
This interactive decoupling system makes sure that in every position during trail running there is surface contact.
This is a groove on the underside of the sole, focuses the runner’s tread reducing energy wastage and fatigue. The main benefit of Guidance Line is a more efficient path through the gait cycle, but it also helps the shoe shed some weight as well.
