The Barefoot design of the MT00 offers runners a super-lightweight, reflexive running shoe that allows them to take control of the trail, feeling every step and running as nature intended. Designed for the experienced neutral runner, the MT00 features a VIBRAM outsole, which is extremely durable and provides grip only where necessary to reduce weight.
The ZERO-DROP differential means that there no difference in height between heel and forefoot leaving only you and the terrain which allows the runner to run completely free.
The upper is also of minimal construction, its seamless no-sew manufacture features synthetic overlays which improve the fit, feel, comfort, breathability and overall performance of the shoe.
Good Form Running
New Balance recommends you adopt Good Form Running in order to adjust and adapt to a more minimalist running style. Here are the four key points to minimalist style running.
Posture Maintaining an upright position allows you to straighten your hips so you can lift your legs higher to increase efficiency.
Midfoot The entire foot lands softly and under the hip line meaning there is less impact on your body.
Cadance Cadance Target 180 Steps with an increase in the amount of steps-per-minute, this should reduce the amount of impact on your body.
Lean Keeping your weight slightly forward utilises gravity to help you move forward and increases your efficiency.

"Verry good service"

"Incredibly light weight. Use only on dry and light trails. The fit is fantastic with the exception of the back being cut like a plimsoll rather than with the 'v' shape usually cut into running shoes."

"So far so good, the shoes are extremely light and comfortable. People moving to a zero drop heel might find some discomfort; I moved from vibram five fingers and wanted as close to barefoot that I could sensibly get away with. My running track is a gravel path in a pine forest. Unfortunately the five fingers did not survive the abuse, I’m more hopeful with the conventional design of the minimus. Useful feedback for cold days would be thick socks. The minimus is exactly that, minimal. This is a partial review as I have not used them much, so as for durability etc I cant comment. In the time I have had them i've clocked around 30 miles on 4 runs. They seem to be holding together. As with everything running related; time will tell."

"Before acquiring this excellent pair of shoes I was doing at least a little barefoot running every run on sidewalks, so the transition wasn't that hard. In general I use these shoes in quite harsh winter conditions, run with them on sidewalks and asphalt as well as on trails in the forest. The shoes seem to comprehend with both kinds of surfaces really well, the only drawback is if you step into a puddle your feet gets instantly wet. Hope to get a pleasant experience with them in summer"

"light and grippy. great race shoes"

"Love these shoes. These are the second pair I have bought. They do come up very small for UK. I usually wear size 8 but in these I wear 9.5. Amazing shoe for cross training, circuits, Olympic lifting. So light and hardier than they look. So happy to see these in the sale"

"They are handling all the abuse I throw at them, including stupidly muddy trails post (and during come to think of it) flooding. Everything I dreamed barefoot / minimalist running could be."

"Best running shoes I have used"
on 2014-01-22 23:04:01
"Ultralight weight. Fit like a glove, though I did order half a size bigger than usual ( I already have a pair of new balance so thought their sizing was a bit on the small size)."

"Bought these for my son - he loves them! Perfect for his winter training"
on 2014-01-15 12:20:30
"Certainly different ! To be honest they may be a bit "too" minimalist. The first time I wore them found running very strange, especially as I heel strike but as I have got used to them they are extremely light and you do start to run quicker. I will get use out of them as I do a lot of trail running but not for everyone these."

N-Durance is a carbon rubber compound designed for maximum outsole durability, helping your shoes to last longer in high-wear areas.
Phantom Liner provides the runner with a seamless upper fit, reducing abrasion and increasing comfort with a sleek finish.
N-Fuse is a dual-layered cushioning foam which contains a soft foam on top for superb shock attenuation and a firmer structured foam underneath which increases stability and prevents side-to-side roll of the heel.
Abzorb is a highly cushioned pad unit which sits under the heel which provides superb shock absorption, reducing impact stress for each time you heelstrike.
Offers ultimate cushioning benefits through its polymer structure and unique cored design. An improved level of resistance to compression set provides optimal durability.

A resilient engineered elastomer designed to provide great shock absorption and response in the heel and forefoot for an optimal ride.
The medial post in New Balance shoes acts to ward against over-pronation. A hard splint structure on the medial side of the foot, helps to stop the foot rolling during the running cycle.
Stability Web is a mid-foot support that provides superb arch support that's rigid and strong which reduces stress on the Platar Fascia and encourages forefoot reflexiveness.
An adjustable internal liner that is integrated into the lacing to provide a custom fit and securely hold the foot in place.
