Building upon the success of its predecessor, the Saucony Kinvara 5 Running Shoes receive updates to make this low-profile trainer even faster and feel greater than ever before.
Small placements of iBR+ rubber to provide more durability and cushioning on the outer side of the foot, where heavy wear is typical for many Kinvara fans. Saucony also heard requests for a smoother, softer collar lining next to the skin (or sock). This version of the Kinvara features a super soft new material called RunDry® that creates an amazing step-in feeling and helps guard against hot-spots and chafing during the run. PRO-LOCK® is a dynamic fit system that moves and flexes with the foot, making the shoe feel more like an extension of the body. PRO-LOCK® first appeared in Saucony’s track spike lineup and is another example of design DNA originally created to meet the needs of our elite athletes.
The Kinvara 5 still retains many of the great features of the previous versions. Inside the shoe, anatomically-contoured memory foam heel pods secure a perfect fit.
PowerGrid technology is installed into the heel, combining Powerfoam with Grid technology to offer superior cushioning and responsiveness on every run. The heel crashpad has been bevelled for a smoother ride as the runner transitions through the gait cycle. Finally, after examining wear patterns on hundreds of test shoes, the outsole has been upgraded through the addition of placements of carbon rubber for enhanced durability.

Saucony and other brand technology can sometimes be hard to understand. Also, what advantages do these technologies have and how can they work for you? Below is an overview explaining some of the terms you will often read about when looking at Saucony Footwear.
The Saucony Grid Cushioning System was introduced in 1991, where a whole generation of runners has become addicted to the sweet ride of Grid technology. It uses woven Hytrel filaments in a grid configuration that centres the heel on impact, for a superior blend of cushioning and stability. A bit like a tennis racquet for a runner's foot, absorbing and deflecting impacts and protecting the body from the force of the road.
When Grid technology was first introduced it was truly revolutionary. ProGrid technology is taking it one step further. It is built closer to the foot and provides greater cushioning without compromising support and durability. ProGrid is created with Respon-Tek, Saucony's latest impact deflection technology, which is made from a blend of foams and synthetic rubbers. It creates a platform that reduces shock impact whilst setting the foot up for a smooth, heel-to-toe transition.
You find the fastest runners are those who move most efficiently from heel to toe. Flexion Plate technology actually facilitates this crucial motion, guiding the foot from heel strike to forefoot using an impact-resistant piece of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). This dampens much of the joint and bone movement in the forefoot that is caused by the high-impact forces of heel strike, allowing you to toe off with more force and less energy.
Saucony's Arch-Lock System is a simple but elegant construction method that wraps around the midfoot area and keeps it snugly in position on the midsole. By keeping the arch where it belongs, you enjoy superior comfort, control and support.
Super Rebound Compound was born from Saucony's HRC technology. SRC in the heel reduces the shock transmitted to the body from impact, and sets the foot up for a smooth, heel-to-toe transition.
HRC is Saucony's premier cushioning system that uses a responsive custom compound of EVA and rubber that provides comfort through the late stages of the gait cycle as well as a smooth toe-off.
Embedded between the EVA and the SRC (Super Rebound Compound), the Impact Interface isolates and cushions heel-strike impact so the heel can compress without bottoming out.
Material that monitors heat/cold to keep your feet at a comfortable 28 degrees.
