The Petzl Zipka Classic Headlamp

Simple and ultra-compact, the ZIPKA headlamp offers 100 lumen brightness and a wide beam for proximity lighting and some movement. Its self-adjusting retractable cord makes it extremely compact, and offers several ways for wearing or mounting. Its phosphorescent reflector helps you find it in the dark. Simple hands-free lighting. Lightweight, compact and easy to use the Zipka is part of Petzl's CLASSIC line of headlamps, delivering lighting for everyday uses: camping, recreation, crafting, hiking, running.

  • Design

A clean functional ergonomic design, featuring one click operation, and a soft, elasticated easy to adjust strap that tethers the unit comfortably and securely to the head. The Petzl Zipka Classic Headlamp is highly user friendly due to the simplicity of its design and at a mere 68g it's incredibly lightweight.

The Zipka also comes equipped with a phosphorescent reflector to assist with locating your torch in the dark. What really sets the Zipka apart from its siblings is its functionality, its compact design has been engineered to ensure maximum versatility. The simple cord strap can be adjusted and tethered to any part of the body, clothing or whatever else you may need lighting.

The user friendly build also grants the Zipka its durability. Each product undergoes vigorous testing to ensure quality of strength and reliability. The mechanical strength of headlamps is verified with fall, shock, and crushing tests. These tests are performed twice on the most fragile parts of the six faces of each product: lens, rotator dial. Strength tests consist of the following:

  • Fall tests: headlamps undergo a fall of 2 m, and then 1 m.
  • Shock tests: tested with a weight of 500 g dropped from a 40 cm height
  • Crushing tests: a mass of 80 kg rolls over the lamp

Delivering a steady stream of illumination the Zipka offers 100 Lumen brightness - Lumen being the measurement of light from a visible source - With a wide beam pattern offering maximum visibility for proximity lighting i.e reading, walking, camping and every day use. Making it a great piece of kit to have close to hand for any occasion.

The Zipka comes with dual settings for lighting modes, with one favoring energy consumption and burn time, and one favoring brightness. This allows you to determine your own settings based on your needs and use. these settings will also determine the life of the batteries, with proximity lighting lasting around 180 Hours and movement lighting lasting around 120 Hours. Still plenty of time to find what your looking for.

Standard Lighting Technology explained
The ideal compromise between power and burn time.

The rated brightness is the maximum light output, obtained when first turned on. It dims after a few minutes, until it goes out completely many, many hours later.

The energy source in these headlamps supplies power directly to the LEDs. Brightness decreases gradually as the energy source is drained, offering a very long burn time. The headlamp is intensely bright for the first few minutes, and then see's a gradual decrease over time. All headlamps with STANDARD LIGHTING have a common characteristic: the greater the initial brightness, the faster it decreases. Petzl has therefore chosen to limit the use of STANDARD LIGHTING to products whose brightness will not be halved after one hour of use, in order to preserve lighting that is truly useful to the user.

Can I return an item I'm unhappy with?

Yes, provided it's in perfect condition with labels intact and you return it within 14 days of receipt. Please see our Returns section for more information about how to return.

Do I need to tell you when I'm returning something?

No, there's no need to contact us before returning your parcel.

Do I need to pay the postage costs to return the item?

Yes, you will need to pay the return postage costs. We also advise that you make sure you have sufficient postal insurance, just in case your parcel goes missing on the way back to us.

Do you have a collection service?

Unfortunately we're not currently able to collect returns - you will need to post your item back to us.

Will I have to pay postage again for my exchange to be sent?

No, we'll cover this cost - we won't charge you any additional postage for sending an exchange. We'll send your exchange using standard delivery.

How long will it take for you to process my exchange?

We aim to despatch your replacements within 24 hours of receiving your return, then our usual delivery times apply.

How long will my refund take?

We'll try our best to process your refund within 24 hours of receiving your return but please allow 7 days for busy periods. Don't forget that once we've processed your refund, it can take up to 72 hours to show up in your account.

How will I be refunded?

We'll refund you via your original payment method, except in the case of postal orders where we'll refund you by cheque.

I want to return my goods but I'm outside of the 14 day period. Can I still return them?

Yes, provided you return them within a reasonable time after purchase and they're in perfect condition. We're unable to issue refunds for items returned outside of the 14 day period but we can exchange your item or give you a credit note.

My goods are faulty - can I return them?

Yes, please return them in the usual way and we'll take a look at them. Don't forget to include all of your details plus any information you think might be helpful. If your item has a manufacturing fault, we'll exchange it for you or give you a refund.

Can I return a personalised item?

Unfortunately, personalised items are non returnable unless they're found to be faulty.

Our no quibbles returns policy means that if you're not 100% happy with any item we send to you, we'll happily exchange or refund it for you.

When you receive your item you have up to 14 days to change your mind and send it back to us.

  • Are returned to us in perfect condition, with their original packaging and with the labels attached.

Faulty Items

If you find a fault with your item, please contact our friendly customer services team on 01274530530 or e-mail who can help and advise the best way to deal with it.

Faulty items should be returned within a reasonable time and preferably in a clean and dry condition. Please enclose all your details and a covering note explaining the fault and any other useful details. We'll try to get back to you within 24 hours of receipt of your parcel, although during busy periods this may take slightly longer.

Occasionally, if we're struggling to locate a fault, we may request a second opinion from the product manufacturer.

Your statutory rights are not affected.
