Sensifit Upper

The upper of the Salomon S/LAB SPEED 2 has been constructed using the Sensifit system, which works to cradle the foot, ensuring a precise and secure fit. Also located in the upper is an EndoFit design, offering an internal fit sleeve designed to hug the foot in exactly the right places and improve feedback and foot wrapping. Anti-debris mesh improves comfort and breathability by actively and efficiently wicking away the build-up of excess sweat and moisture, leaving your feet cool, dry and comfortable as you strive for the best results and performance. Additionally, cool air is encouraged to circulate, creating a drier, healthier environment for your feet to thrive.

Further comfort and dexterity are provided by the quick lace system, ensuring you find the optimal fit without have any unwanted distraction or discomfort. The lacing offers a secure, locked-in feel while you run. The laces can be safely stored in the lace pocket provided, reducing the risk of the laces becoming a nuisance or being a potential trip hazard. Rounding off the upper is mid feather construction, delivering a lightweight, streamlined feel to prevent you feeling held back or restricted as you run.

Compressed EVA Midsole

Compressed EVA resides in the midsole of the S/LAB SPEED 2 for exceptional cushioning and comfort. The compressed EVA is a high-quality foam which is responsible for cushioning the foot throughout your running experience. As well as providing plush cushioning and comfort, the midsole is highly durable and resilient, so it will not break down - even with a high content of responsiveness and spring. Ideal for racing and trail running, the midsole is extremely lightweight to propel you through your strides and deliver explosiveness.

Premium Wet Traction Contagrip Outsole

Developed with Premium Wet Traction Contagrip which is a durable rubber compound that covers the platform of the Salomon S/LAB SPEED 2. This outsole will prevent the abrasive trails from causing damage to the underside of the shoe. Ideal for difficult, unpredictable terrain, the outsole ensures you run with confidence knowing you have a shoe you can truly rely on. Strategically placed lugs provide flexibility to encourage a full, unrestricted range of motion in all directions.

Shoe Review

The S/Lab Speed 2 blends together all the best features of the Salomon Speedcross 5 and S/Lab Sense 7. It's a trail running shoe that offers the perfect balance of comfort, protection, grip and stylish design.

It's not often that I find a shoe which is absolutely ideal for both training and racing, but this model ticks all the boxes. It's a durable, well-made trail shoe, built to cope with everyday mileage, yet lightweight in design for racing at speed. The updated tread design, with deep 6mm multi-directional lugs, provides excellent grip in all conditions and on every type of terrain.

I love the simple design of this shoe and the seamless blend of materials in the upper. This helps to prolong the life of the shoe by preventing premature wear and tear and also make it super-streamlined. The 'soft touch' material around the inside of the shoe, combined with the gusseted, padded tongue, ensure a more comfortable and secure fit.

In terms of sizing, it is consistent with all other models in the Salomon range - I wear a 10.5UK.
