Salewa Speed Beat GORE-TEX Women's Walking Shoes

Hike further and faster with the Salewa Speed Beat GORE-TEX Women's Walking Shoes. Combining speed with protection, the shoes will allow you to take on hikes with little to hold you back. A GORE-TEX upper will ensure that your feet will be protected from changeable weather conditions.

GORE-TEX Upper

The upper of the Speed Beat is surrounded by a GORE-TEX membrane. Designed to keep water out of the main body of the shoe, the membrane will block out all water, stopping it from penetrating the surface layer and causing discomfort to the feet. Despite preventing water from entering the shoe, air and moisture from inside are still able to find its way out, which means that the membrane will not compromise breathability. This will allow a steady and constant airflow in and out, which will keep the feet feeling fresh and ventilated. With extremely lightweight mesh surrounding the upper, this will contribute by keeping the overall weight of the shoe down, making you feel a lot lighter on your feet. This mesh will also maximise ventilation and breathability to the feet. The toes are protected by firm material which will absorb any heavy impacts and knocks that it may receive on the trails. As well as this, the heel has an anti-rock heel cup surrounding it. This will mean that it is held in a firm and upright position, keeping it healthy and strong and preventing shocks reaching the foot. The shoe uses Salewa's 3F System to further improve the fit. This system will improve the flexibility of the upper, which also providing support and a blister-free fit, which will dramatically improve the experience of wearing the shoes, removing irritations and distractions that come with an uncomfortable fit. Strong laces with an eyelet at the top will allow you to find a secure and comfortable fit every time. The laces can be stored in a stretch gaiter which sits above the forefoot. The gaiter will also block dirt from entering the shoe and causing irritation. A soft padded tongue and ankle collar will improve the fit, as well as reducing the risk of rubbing and chafing from occurring. Within the shoe, there is an Ortholite footbed. This will wick moisture away efficiently and effectively, as well as providing a comfortable and soft surface for the sole of the foot.

Dual-Density EVA Midsole

Designed to offer long-term comfort and protection, the midsole does this by being dual-density. Towards the bottom of the midsole, the EVA is extremely firm, which means that heavy shocks and impacts are absorbed instantly and effectively, stopping the pressure from reaching the sole of the foot. As well as this, there is less densely packed EVA which has the purpose of cushioning the foot. By having this EVA, the cushioning will make landings feel smoother, which will mean that the ankles and knees will have less pressure put on them. This will mean that you will suffer less fatigue, which will allow you to travel further and faster than before. Using a motion guidance technology within the midsole, this will make each stride feel more efficient with a flowing move.

POMOCA Outsole

Supreme grip and traction is guaranteed with the POMOCA outsole. The durable rubber on the outsole is able to form a solid connection with a wide range of wet and dry surfaces, which will keep you feeling stable on volatile ground. All the way down the foot, there is an S-Path glide zone. This will promote a natural step from the heel strike to the toe-off. This will increase step efficiency and stability, giving you a comfortable feeling in the process. An aggressive lug design will anchor your foot into place, providing a solid base for you to push off from. Every single part of the shoe is vegan friendly.

Salewa History

SALEWA was founded on the 8th July 1935 by Josef Liebhart in Munich. During WW2 the company produced various leather and textile products, first of all, rucksacks with tubular steel frames and ski poles of hazelwood. With the great demand for ski polesin the winter of 1952/53, Salewa made its breakthrough into the sports sector. In 1955, Salewa developed the unique Andes backpack and supported the Andes expedition of Hermann Huber, who was to become the managing director of Salewa. During the 1960s, the development and production of the fully adjustable Salewa classic light crampon set new standards and became one of their most successful products to date. Salewa gained international recognition as a leader in alpine innovation with its invention of the tubular ice screw, which today is an industry standard. In 1978, decisive steps towards expansion were taken and the product range was extended to include functional clothing. In 1979 Salewa presented all its products with the same logo for the first time: the Salewa eagle was created as that logo and thereafter stood as the symbol of incomparable quality.
