MINIMALIST RUNNING / BAREFOOT RUNNING

The New Balance Minimus 1010v2 trail runner introduces a new kind of minimal fit to the performance-driven runner, taking a remarkably lightweight, stylish upper and combining it with ROCK STOP® protection in the forefoot and a supremely durable Vibram® outsole.

Knocked down to a 4mm drop, this up-and-coming minimalist superstar helps you go the distance again and again while simultaneously allowing you to concentrate on your form and the exhilarating feel of the trail beneath you.

Minimus is a whole new approach to footwear, a new place on the spectrum from barefoot running to the traditional maximum-cushioning running shoe. Inspired by Good Form Running and designed to be worn with or without socks. With only a 4mm drop from heel to toe, as little as a third of that of a traditional running shoe, the Minimus collection holds a world of discovery for neutral runners as well as those with gait issues or chronic injury to conquer by learning better form.

  • REVlite Midsole - Innovative REVlite midsole provides premium responsiveness and durability at a 30% lighter weight than other foams with comparable performance
  • RockStop® - Rock Stop® embedded into forefoot provides protection from sharp rocks and debris.
  • Debris-Free Construction - Eliminates waste, preserving raw materials and providing an environmentally preferred manufacturing solution.
  • Synthetic and Mesh upper - Ensures ultimate comfort, snug fit and durability.
  • 4mm Offset - The New Balance Minimus sports a 4mm drop from heel to toe, to give you a great barefoot running experience.
  • Instep Height - A lower instep height, means you run better as well as promoting good form running.
  • Wider Forefoot - To allow your foot to naturally expand on impact
  • Vibram® Outsole - A highly durable and extremely sticky rubber which will ensure and provide you a great traction in wet conditions.
  • Memory Foam Heel Pads - Strategically placed memory foam in the heel provides a heel pocket for a snug fit.
  • Weight: - 241g

What is RockStop?

RockStop is a thin, flexible layer of high durometer EVA foam or thermoplastic urethane (TPU film). It's located between the outsole and midsole and is designed to protect the bottom of the foot from terrain that contains sharp roots, pointed rocks and other penetrable objects. The protective layer of high durometer EVA foam or TPU film distributes highly localised impacts, reducing in-shoe pressure on the foot. The reduction in pressure reduces the likelihood of blisters and bruising. The thin lyaer of EVA or TPU is designed to flex where needed and is thin enough to keep the foot close to the ground providing optimal off-road ride and stability.

Good Form Running

New Balance recommends you adopt Good Form Running in order to adjust and adapt to a more minimalist running style. Here are the four key points to minimalist style running.

Posture Maintaining an upright position allows you to straighten your hips so you can lift your legs higher to increase efficiency.

Midfoot The entire foot lands softly and under the hip line meaning there is less impact on your body.

Cadance Cadance Target 180 Steps with an increase in the amount of steps-per-minute, this should reduce the amount of impact on your body.

Lean Keeping your weight slightly forward utilises gravity to help you move forward and increases your efficiency.

Have Trouble looking for the types of shoe you want?

Below, the image will guide you through the types of New Balance shoes you should go for depending on your needs.

Nb-shoe-guide.jpg

New Balance Technology

N2 Cushioning

N2 technology allows for less material underfoot, while delivering cushioning scores equal or better than shoes with traditional midsole heights. Giving you a more lightweight shoe with the same great cushioning.

Sure Lace

Sure Lace technology secures the shoe laces better, providing added mid-foot support to keep the shoe snug around the foot, improving fit, comfort and performance.

Sure-lace.jpg

N-Durance

N-Durance is a carbon rubber compound designed for maximum outsole durability, helping your shoes to last longer in high-wear areas.

Phantom Liner

Phantom Liner provides the runner with a seamless upper fit, reducing abrasion and increasing comfort with a sleek finish.

N-Fuse

N-Fuse is a dual-layered cushioning foam which contains a soft foam on top for superb shock attenuation and a firmer structured foam underneath which increases stability and prevents side-to-side roll of the heel.

Abzorb

Abzorb is a highly cushioned pad unit which sits under the heel which provides superb shock absorption, reducing impact stress for each time you heelstrike.

Abzorb SBS

Offers ultimate cushioning benefits through its polymer structure and unique cored design. An improved level of resistance to compression set provides optimal durability.

SBS.jpg

Abzorb DTS

Dynamic Transition System combines Abzorb foam with Abzorb SBS to provide optimal cushioning and a smooth transition from heel-strike to forefoot.

Dts1.jpg Dts2.jpg

Full Length Abzorb Strobel Board

Prevalent in New Balance's top level shoes, the Full Length Abzorb Strobel Board ensures a cushioned step all the way through the running cycle from heel to forefoot. The Strobel Board works to great effect in ensuring shock displacement and offering a luxury cushioning feel.

N-ERGY

A resilient engineered elastomer designed to provide great shock absorption and response in the heel and forefoot for an optimal ride.

Medial Post

The medial post in New Balance shoes acts to ward against over-pronation. A hard splint structure on the medial side of the foot, helps to stop the foot rolling during the running cycle.

Stability Web

Stability Web is a mid-foot support that provides superb arch support that's rigid and strong which reduces stress on the Platar Fascia and encourages forefoot reflexiveness.

Stability-web.jpg

LockDown Liner

An adjustable internal liner that is integrated into the lacing to provide a custom fit and securely hold the foot in place.

Rockstop

A protective flexible layer, mainly used in New Balance's trail collection, that defends the feet from rocks, shock and sharp objects that you encounter on the trail, minimising pressure and dispersing shock energy.

Rockstop.jpg

Lightning Dry

Superior fabric keeps you dry and comfortable by managing moisture transfer.

H2-Flow

A water evacuation system that contains peripheral perforated ports which allows moisture to escape, keeping your feet comfortable and dry in any wet conditions.

Acteva Lite / Acteva UltraLite

Acteva Lite is a lightweight cushioned midsole which is 24% lighter than traditional EVA compounds, whilst maintaining it's superb cushioning.

Acteva UltraLite is 12% more lightweight than Acteva Lite, offering optimal lightweight performance.

Actevalite.jpg

Rollbar

A TPU (Thermo-Plastic Polymer Unit) posting system built to minimise rear-foot movement that when combined the TS2 system achieves superb motion control.

Rollbar.jpg

RevLite

An innovative foam compound which provides the same responsiveness and durability found in heavier foams.

AT Tread

A dual-use outsole tread which combines both trail and running design for use on and off-road.
