Bio-Based Dyneema Upper
Built to take on the toughest trails on race day, the 005 features norda's unique bio-circular Dyneema upper. Dyneema is manufactured exclusively by Avient, providing you with an ultra-high-molecular-weight polyurethane, making it the strongest of any thermoplastic. By weight, this is 15 times stronger than steel, yet still floats in water. The highly durable compound protects against knocks, bumps and scrapes on the trail, keeping your feet well-shielded and comfortable. Wrapping feet with a flexible layer of cool, fresh fabrics provides constant airflow throughout the shoes, prevents overheating and keeps you focused on the trails ahead. The 005 uses a fit-lock system that combines the heel, tongue and inner for a secure fit. The heel collar uses bigger heel pods than other models in the norda range. This provides a tighter fit, locking the heel and reducing movement, while stopping debris from entering. The tongue uses a smooth microsuede that moulds to the foot for an irritation-free fit and is detailed with perforation to increase airflow and reduce heat. Completing the fit lock system is the new interior foot binding technology, which is engaged via the laces and ensures unwavering stability. The shoes feature reflective elements that provide enhanced visibility in low-light conditions. Completing the upper are the laces made from Dyneema, providing higher abrasion resistance, more stretch, and are 4 times as strong as a standard lace. The laces are 4mm instead of 5mm to reduce weight.
Arnitel Midsole
The 005 features an entirely pure Arnitel (TPEE) midsole unlike any shoe ever has before. The midsole compound allows norda to make the 005 incredibly lightweight and responsive while durable. With its shock-absorbing properties, the midsole prevents discomfort as you hit tough, less-forgiving surfaces by by dampening the impact when striking down onto the ground below, which then expels energy to propel you forwards in to your next strideWhile most supershoes are engineered for race day, the 005 is engineered for race days, allowing you to wear this shoe over and over again, on race day. For increased underfoot cushioning, the shoes come with two insoles. A moulded Arnitel TPEE insole comes ready inside the 005 for training mileage. For race day, there's an additional die-cut insole included, perfect if you're looking to shave even more weight.
norda x Vibram Megagrip Elite Outsole
The 005 has a full-length one-piece outsole that features the world's first release of Vibram Megagrip Elite rubber. This race day compound uses the grippiest and lightest formulation ever created by Vibram. The sole provides a solid grip on dry, wet and slippery conditions, allowing you to traverse up mountains or tricky terrain and has outstanding durability so you can rely on these shoes for the long run. The increased traction of the Megagrip Elite allows for varying lug heights, which accommodate seamless transitions between technical trails and fire roads, digging into the ground beneath effortlessly for a sure footing with every step.
