Single Mesh Upper
Constructed using a high-performance textile, the Matryx upper has been designed to resist abrasion, making it perfect for running hard. With individually-coated high-tenacity Kevlar and technical yarn, the durable upper is lightweight and breathable to keep you cool, dry and comfortable as well as protected from rocks and roots on the trails. Designed to provide a smooth, glove-like fit and feel, the upper of the Salomon S/LAB Phantasm 2 uses a single-layer mesh. It ensures enhanced breathability whilst remaining as lightweight as possible. Perforations within the fabric create a perfect microclimate for your feet to thrive in; the mesh allows cool air to flow into the shoes whilst, at the same time, allowing hot, humid air to escape so you can remain cool, dry and comfortable at all times. The see-through mesh weave features varying degrees of translucency for impactful and visible design detailing. As well as this, the plush, close-fit collar is soft, comfortable and minimalist without sacrificing the secure feel. A durable synthetic lining offers additional protection to the upper. Completing the upper is a traditional lacing system that locks down the midfoot to reduce in-shoe slippage so you can enjoy distraction-free strides. Flat laces reduce pressure points over the instep for a consistent and comfortable fit.
optiFOAM Midsole
Built on a springy and comfortable midsole compound that delivers punch and pop while smoothing out your landings for a fluid ride, the S/LAB Phantasm 2 provides lightweight and responsive cushioning. optiFOAM is a lightweight, springy and resilient foam compound that powers your stride forward. This lightweight foam delivers a maximum level of cushioning to ensure optimum in-shoe comfort and a responsive ride. Shock-absorbing properties prevent discomfort or injury by absorbing the impact caused by striking down on tough and changing surfaces. Thanks to its unique configuration of double-layered, ultra-soft optiFOAM, the S/LAB Phantasm 2 provides optimal and stable ultra-distance cushioning when traversing tricky, changing trail conditions. Sandwiched between these two foams is an energyBLADE Carbon plate optimised for snappy toe-offs and propulsive pop in your stride that helps propel you forward, so you can crush those PBs.
Road Contagrip Outsole
Using a Road Contagrip outsole, the S/LAB Phantasm 2 is able to form a solid grip between the shoe and the terrain. The rubber is also extremely durable and abrasion-resistant, which means long-term control is guaranteed. Combining flat, wide lugs for grip on flat, hard surfaces with a compound that balances durability and adhesion, the S/LAB Phantasm 2 is ideal for road running. This will also benefit you by acting as a solid base for you to push off from when taking a stride, braking and changing direction.
