The name is a bit of a giveaway; the Ultra Fastpack III Shoes are engineered for pacey through-hikes, when you're blurring the boundaries between trail running and hiking. FutureLight Upper
Developed to be lightweight, supportive and protective, the upper of theUltra Fast Pack III Walking Shoes has been constructed using futurelight technology. Futurelight is an industry-leading advanced technology that is rigorously tested to withstand the harshest weather conditions whilst still providing enhanced breathability. The nano-spun membrane and unique laminating process take lightweight waterproof breathability to a new level; the futurelight upper works to keep your feet dry, cool and comfortable at all times by creating airflow and keeping water out. The waterproof membrane protects your feet in the harshest rainstorms and allows your feet to breathe when temperatures begin to rise. By allowing cool air to flow throughout the upper futurelight technology creates a perfect microclimate for your feet to thrive in so you can go further for longer in complete comfort. As well as this, a no-sew, toe cap and midfoot overlays ensure a natural lockdown fit whilst a gusseted tongue sits comfortably against the skin and prevents dirt ingress. Completing the upper is a lacing system which locks down the midfoot to reduce in-shoe slippage.
FastFoam Midsole
Within the midsole of the North Face Ultra Fastpack IV Walking Shoes is FastFoam, a responsive midsole system which ensures comfort and cushioning form the moment you put them on till the moment you take them off. The lightweight foam is highly responsive and stable to ensure a comfortable and supportive ride. A single density platform of EVA resides underfoot for lightweight, responsive cushioning. Generous, soft and durable, it spares your joints as you strike down onto hard, unforgiving surfaces. Exceptionally lightweight, the EVA ensures long-lasting cushioning to keep you comfortable on long distance days. EVA is extremely firm, which will absorb shocks instantly and effectively, preventing them from causing any damage to the sole of the foot. Energy produced from this will also be returned as rebound, which will give you an added spring in your step. Within the midsole an ESS snake plate works to provide ample forefoot protection by allowing the foot to flex, bend, and contort to changing terrain whilst also delivering rigidity where and when it is still needed. Completing the midsole is an OrthoLite footbed which works to provide additional comfort creating a comfortable platform underfoot. The footbed also works to wick excess sweat and moisture away from the feet to reduces the risks of unpleasant sweat and odours.
Vibram Megagrip Outsole
Constructed using Vibram Megagrip outsole, the Ultra Fastpack IV FutureLight Walking Shoes provides extreme grip and traction for all surface wear. This high-performance rubber compound gifts you with an unparalleled grip on wet and dry surfaces, rugged longevity and optimal ground adaptability. The Vibram rubber is built for extremely slippery terrain as it can form a solid bond with the ground to anchor you in place. Despite facing abuse from rough ground, the rubber stands up against this, deflecting the blows and retaining a strong shape and structure. Completing the Ultra Fastpack are multi-directional lugs which adorn the outsole to provide added traction.
