Project Salt Run: One Woman, 100 Marathons, 100 Days

Some challenges make you pause for a moment. This one asks you to rethink what’s possible.

Hannah Cox is attempting a world-first: running 100 marathons in 100 days across India and Pakistan, stretching the limits of endurance and asking a bigger question - ‘what do we choose to stand for?’

In October 2025, Hannah began this journey, tracing a forgotten 4,200km colonial boundary known as the Inland Customs Line. Once a vast living hedge used by the British to enforce a tax on one of life’s most essential resources - salt - the line stood as a barrier that restricted access to something vital.

Today, Hannah wants to flip that narrative. Instead of a barrier, the line becomes a thread connecting people, landscapes, and stories, shining a light on organisations working to protect our planet: 1% for the Planet, Frank Water, ClientEarth, and Big Change.

Her goal: raise £1 million for these four charity partners who champion solutions and inspire global and environmental action.

This is Project Salt Run and we are proud to stand behind it.

A challenge of endurance, purpose and connection.

It’s bold. It’s human. It’s rooted in something bigger than the miles.

Who Is Hannah Cox?

Hannah isn’t a professional ultrarunner, in fact, she ran her first marathon only last year. She’s taking on this challenge as a first-time ultra-distance athlete while balancing a full-time career in purpose-led business.

She is the founder of the Better Business Network, a community for companies committed to making a real difference, and the creator of the Better Business Standard, an accreditation that helps businesses take practical steps towards responsible practice.

But this challenge isn’t only physical, it’s also personal.

The route ends in Kolkata, at the childhood home of Hannah’s late father, a moment that brings her purpose and family story full circle

Project Salt isn’t just a run for Hannah, it is a way to honour where she comes from while helping shape a better future for those who come next.

Meet The Charity Partners

1% for the Planet: A global network where incredible businesses pledge 1% of their annual revenue to support causes that protect the place we call home and the people who live here.

Frank Water: A global water charity who work directly with remote communities in India to improve access to safe water and sanitation, rejuvenate springs in the Himalayas, and help businesses manage water sustainably.

ClientEarth: A legal non-profit using the power of the law to fight climate change, protect nature, and hold polluters accountable.

Big Change: Invests in early-stage ideas from those challenging the status quo to create lasting change for young people. They provide funding, mentoring, and a network to help projects deliver systemic impact.

Together these charities represent different sides of the same mission: protect the future by acting now.

Why It Matters

2.2 billion people still don’t have access to safe drinking water.

Climate change is already reshaping lives and livelihoods.

Young people are inheriting systems that no longer work.

Your donation powers real, lasting solutions:

Lawyers holding governments accountable for climate action

Engineers building clean water and sanitation systems

Changemakers reimagining education, opportunity, and community resilience

These are not abstract ideas, they are tangible interventions that protect people and the planet right now.

Follow Hannah’s Journey

Hannah won’t be alone on this journey, she is joined on the road by content creators  Natalie and Joel, who will be capturing her story and documenting every step across Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube.

Along the way, Project Salt Run will share stories of resilience, community, and human courage, sharing them through daily updates and a forthcoming documentary.

And with four people living and working from a single van for 100 days… it’s guaranteed to be memorable for every reason imaginable.
