Leki Makalu Lite AS Trekking Poles (Pair)
The anti-shock version of the Makalu Lite, the Makalu Lite AS combines the slim, lightweight build of the Lite platform with the Dynamic Suspension System (DSS) integrated above the tip for those who want a super light pole for regular mountain and trail use, and those who want active joint protection on sustained descents.
The Makalu Lite AS utilises a three-section Vario telescopic design which is constructed from HTS 6.5 aluminium through the upper, middle and lower sections, for structural integrity, reliability and comfort when tackling tough hiking trails. This structure allows you to use it time and time again, whilst the Aergon Air grip (2K Foam, Standard size) uses hollow core grip technology, which doesn't add undue weight while providing a large textured surface for you to hold. Additionally, an extended lower grip zone provides you with the ability to have a higher hand position, making it comfortable on steeper ascents without the need to readjust. Lighter in weight than the Makalu, the Lite AS version uses a 16|14|12mm section construction, making it easy to carry and allowing it to pack down small. For fast adjustability on the move, the poles utilise Leki's Speed Lock plus external lever. This provides you with precise adjustment of a range between 110cm and 130cm, and is glove-compatible for easy use. Working to ensure comfort, the Lock Security Strap Skin 4.0 is a comfortable, continuously adjustable strap for an irritation-free design, ensuring comfort on long days. Adding durability and further levels of comfort, the poles feature a DSS (Carbide) tip integrated with the Dynamic Suspension System (DSS) to absorb impact energy during each plant. This design reduces the transmitted load through the wrist, elbow and shoulder across repeated downhill steps. When the terrain flattens, or the pole needs to feel firms, the antishock can be locked out entirely, for a direct, responsive feel. The Trekking 2.0 basket is also included for confident use when hiking mixed trail conditions.
