Rab Optical Waterproof Down Men's Jacket
Skiing in subarctic temperatures promises featherlight snow and smooth powder turns, but you need serious insulation to make the most of it. This fully waterproof down jacket offers uncompromised warmth and protection for deep winter skiing and backcountry missions in cold regions, from the summits of Alaska to the northern reaches of Norway.
The Optimal jacket is an extremely lightweight waterproof jacket that makes for an essential piece of kit to add to your outdoor wardrobe. The jacket is crafted using a 2-layer Pertex Shield fabric with a DWR finish and added stretch, ensuring you stay dry from the rain and protected from the wind. Engineered using 110g of 700FP TXdown with a Hydrophobic finish, the gold down-infused synthetic sheet insulation ensures you remain warm at all times. Although Hydrophobic down is not waterproof, it dries much faster, absorbs less water and retains loft far better than untreated down. The two-way YKK VISLON AquaGuard front zip with internal storm guard assists in putting the jacket on and off, and can also be used to help regulate ventilation. The adjustable ski-helmet-compatible hood helps keep the elements at bay, and can be altered to a more personal fit, while the zip-off powder skirt seals out the snow, even on a bail in deep powder. Articulated sleeves allow for a full range of movement without restrictions holding you back for an improved fit, and the underarm vents enable you to ditch excess heat to control temperature. Providing ample space for items like gloves and snacks, the jacket features two hand and two chest pockets, plus a pass pocket on the lower arm for your ski pass, so it is always at hand and easy to access.
