Designed in collaboration with The North Face athlete team, the Altamesa 500 is a highly cushioned and stable performance training shoe for trail running.
Engineered Mesh Upper
The upper has been constructed from a seamless, lofted, engineered mesh for chafe-free, highly breathable comfort. It is made using 62% recycled materials for an eco-conscious choice, and the comfort-focused fit in the toe box with increased space for the big and pinky toes keeps you focused on the trail. The plush heel cup and collar offer high-level comfort and heel lockdown, working with the ghillie lacing system to really anchor the shoe to your foot. Further heightening the fit, a comfortable padded tongue with internal wings also assists in lockdown, and the reinforced internal heel counter provides rear foot stability. A reinforced and protective toe cap, stability overlays and lace guides keep feet shielded and supported. The gear-inspired pull-tab webbing at the heel allows for ease of entry.
DREAM Foam Midsole
DREAM midsole foam is an innovative cushioning technology that offers an incredibly lightweight, soft and bouncy underfoot experience with great resiliency throughout the life of the shoe. It cushions your joints as you strike down and converts the energy into rebounds to propel you forward, allowing you to run further, faster, using less energy. This is combined with the dynamic stability zone in the forefoot, which is designed to provide inherent stability on the trail, allowing you greater confidence out on the trail.
SURFACE CTRL Rubber Outsole
Designed to be hardwearing and grippy, the Altamesa 500s have been developed using the signature SURFACE CTRL Rubber Outsole. This bio-based outsole rubber compound has been specially designed to ensure superior traction on both wet and dry surfaces. Not only this, but it also works to ensure multi-directional traction on a wide range of surfaces and will withstand even the toughest trails yet whilst being flexible enough to adapt to multiple terrains, providing you with complete control. The durable rubber works to protect itself from damage and protect users from losing control and slipping and has been designed to hold firm on uneven terrain so you can have complete confidence on the toughest terrains. 4mm lugs further bite into the earth, helping you with those quick, decisive moves when hurtling up and down hill and turning at speed.
