Engineered Knit Upper
The Escalante Racer 2 features an updated knit upper that delivers a sleek and stylish look whilst remaining highly breathable. The sleek, smooth knit is comfortable against the skin, whilst micro-perforations allow built-up heat and moisture to escape and cool fresh air to flow in. The Original FootShape Fit provides added comfort, allowing your foot to sit more naturally and providing more space for toes to splay. This spacious construction addresses the biological differences between men's and women's feet, providing more space in the shoes. Completing the upper is a traditional lacing system which locks the midfoot to prevent excessive movement for a secure fit.
Altra Ego Midsole
Underfoot, the Escalante Racer 2 delivers a firmer platform of Altra's iconic Ego midsole foam that delivers a comfortable, responsive feel. The midsole contains many areas with features that provide the shoe with extremely responsive rebound and cushioning, whilst standard EVA protects and rebounds. The cushioning sits directly underneath the foot, reducing ground impact and returning the energy as a spring for each step taken. 22mm of this foam cushions the foot, protecting you as you strike unforgiving surfaces. The midsole also features a zero-drop platform. This means the heel and the forefoot are the same distance from the ground, encouraging proper low-impact form throughout your run.
Durable Rubber Outsole
The outsole of the Escalante Racer 2 has been constructed from durable and abrasion-resistant rubber to ensure long-lasting use and enjoyment. It forms a solid grip on the ground, allowing forward propulsion, helping you to move further and faster confidently. The outsole uses FOOTPOD technology, which maps out the bones and tendons in the foot to encourage more natural movement underfoot for a more comfortable feeling whilst running. Not only this, but Altra's INNERFLEX technology has been used too. These grid-like grooves throughout the sole improve the flexibility and movement of the foot.
