GORE-TEX Upper

Covering the upper part of the shoe, Merrell have collaborated with GORE-TEX, making the it waterproof. With the power of advanced laminated membranes and waterproof sealing, GORE-TEX technology provides an innovative waterproof barrier between your feet and the elements to make even the biggest challenges feel more comfortable. Moisture is therefore blocked from entering the shoe and causing any discomfort. Mixed with the waterproof mesh, the upper is made from premium full-grain leather providing a smart and plush finish. Towards the toes, there is a strong rubber cap, which protects the forefoot from any bumps or knocks. The laces run through metal hooks and lacing eyelets. This makes securing it for a perfect fit an easy task. The padded tongue sits on the ankle comfortably, and also works to stop debris from entering and coming into contact with the foot. Lightweight and breathable, airflow in and out of the shoe is controlled, keeping the feet feeling fresh and ventilated.

EVA Midsole

The thick EVA midsole protects the foot from shocks underfoot as well as providing rebound and bounceback to propel the foot. With particular concentration in vulnerable areas, the midsole is thicker in vulnerable areas of impact. For flexibility, the shoe uses a moulded nylon arch shank. This makes the midsole stronger when flexing as well as providing acceleration in steps. Within the heel, the shoe uses Merrell's Air Cushion. This compresses on the heel strike, and provides absorption for up to four times the body weight of the person wearing the shoes. It also offers greater stability and comfort. Within the shoe, the kinetic fit advanced insole has zonal support and soft cushioning. In addition, the lining on the sock liner and the inside of the shoe uses M-Select Fresh. This naturally eliminates sweat and its odour-causing bacteria with reactive, friendly microbes that break down perspiration on contact.

Vibram Outsole

All surfaces from trails to pavements, wet or dry will easily be latched onto by the Vibram outsole. Partnering with Merrell, Vibram has continued its 70-year leadership of, and commitment to, the performance hiking, running and mountaineering industries. The high-performance rubber soles for outdoor footwear provide power and stability on the trail. With 5mm multi-directional lugs, this digs into surfaces for control. This also helps with takeoffs, braking and changes of direction.
