GORE-TEX Upper
Surrounding the upper of the Chameleon 7, the GORE-TEX material is completely waterproof. This will block the entry of any moisture into the shoe, allowing you to tackle the trails in any conditions without the risk of getting damp feet. Once blocked from entering, the moisture that gathers on the surface of the shoe is wicked away efficiently and effectively. Despite blocking moisture from passing to the inside of the shoe, air is able to penetrate through the material. Warm and muggy air that is building up within the shoe is easily able to escape out and is then replaced by cooler air from outside of the shoe. This constant flow of air will keep you feeling fresh and ventilated over a long period of time, maximising comfort. The upper is made from a combination of suede and mesh, and this will mean that whilst it remains extremely lightweight, the material is also extremely tough and durable. This will provide both comfort and protection. Surrounding vulnerable areas of the feet, for example the toes and the heel, the material is thicker and will protect the areas from any bumps of knocks that you might receive. Securing the shoe to fit can be done in a combination of two ways with traditional laces and a hook in loop strap, allowing you to easily find a comfortable fit. After a day on the muddy ground, carrying the shoes around is easy with heel loops to prevent you from getting your hands dirty. A protective rubber toe cap enhances the durability of the Chameleon 7 keeping your forefoot safe from rocks and debris.
Firm EVA Midsole
The multi-functional midsole is designed to keep your feet healthy and feeling good on the trails. The EVA injected into the midsole will ensure that you won't feel any discomfort from heavy and sharp contacts from below. This is because the EVA is extremely good at absorbing shocks instantly and effectively, preventing it from reaching the sole of the foot and causing any damage to it. As well as this, the midsole will provide cushioning on every step that you take, which will improve the comfort of the shoes, as well as reduce the risk of injury by taking less stress off joints like the knees, ankles and bones in the feet. This will mean that you will fatigue less, maximising the amount of activity that you could achieve. The heel will sit comfortably in a rubber cup sole, which will protect it from any heavy strikes as well as keeping it in a strong and upright position. A Kinetic Fit Base removable contoured insole provides flexible support allowing you to move freely. Merrell Air Cushion in the heel absorbs shock whilst adding stability ensuring you remain well balanced whilst out and about. Merrell's signature FlexPlate technology is lightweight providing you with torsional rigidity adding extra durability.
Vibram TC5+ Outsole
Delivering supremely strong and durable grip on wet or dry mixed terrain, the Vibram outsole will keep you firmly in control. Able to form a solid bond with any type of surface, the rubber will hold form a strong bond with the ground beneath it to anchor you in place. The rubber is also highly durable, which will mean that it will stand up against abuse, maintaining its shape and definition for long-term functionality. The lug design of the outsole will further anchor the shoes to the ground, especially if it is wet. By digging into the surface, the lugs will improve takeoffs, landings and changes of direction, giving you the confidence to tackle any surface.
