Mountain Equipment Makalu GORE-TEX Men's Jacket
Combining the suppleness required for all-day comfort and easy packability with the robustness to protect in extremely wet weather, the Makalu Jacket is one of Mountain Equipment's most popular waterproof jackets for year-round mountaineers, climbers and walkers. Whether pulled on in the face of building storm clouds or worn all day through relentless winter drizzle, it offers protection during high-mileage mountain days and severe weather.
Constructed from an updated GORE-TEX with ePE membrane, the Makalu Jacket is highly protective and shields you from poor, wet weather while being highly breathable to provide optimum comfort across a range of hiking and climbing conditions. The jacket has fully taped seams to prevent water and moisture from entering. This breathable garment keeps you cool by allowing a constant supply of fresh air while providing moisture-wicking properties to prevent the growth of sweat and moisture, keeping you dry. Working alongside this is a 3-layer construction with 75D face fabric that enhances the jacket's durability. A fully adjustable Mountain HC Hood protects you from the constantly changing weather when traversing the mountains. The hood is also helmet-compatible, providing the best fit and feel. The hood has a laminated and wired visor that maintains your field of vision even in high winds or when wearing glasses or goggles. Designed with an Alpine Fit, the garment minimises excess fabric to avoid flapping or bunching without feeling restricted, whilst articulated pre-shaped sleeves allow you to move comfortably and freely. Multiple storage options provide space to stash any essentials quickly, including two large pockets with YKK water-resistant zips, a Napoleon chest pocket with YKK water-resistant zips and a laminated, laser-cut inner pocket with a YKK zip. The adjustable hem drawcords and laminated cuffs help accommodate layering and seal out driving rain while providing complete protection during extremely wet weather. Large pit zips also allow you to regulate temperature and manage moisture build-up during strenuous uphill legs or in humid conditions.
