The New Balance 680 V9 provides exceptional comfort, thanks to all-new Fresh Foam, and an updated upper keeps feet feeling cool and fresh.
Constructed with an engineered mesh upper, the New Balance Fresh Foam 680v9 wraps your feet in breathable comfort. The mesh encourages cool air to circulate through the shoe, providing a constant supply of fresh air while simultaneously removing built-up heat. The increase in ventilation creates a perfect microclimate for your feet to thrive in, so you can remain comfortable on long-distance days. The new upper offers a snug fit and prevents in-shoe movement, without being tight and uncomfortable. A padded collar and tongue sit softly against the foot, reducing the risk of chafing and irritation. Completing the upper is a traditional lacing system that locks down the midfoot to reduce in-shoe slippage so you can enjoy distraction-free strides.
New Balance has updated the midsole for the v9; their innovative Fresh Foam is now even softer than before but still provides the same premium cushioning underfoot, for a comfortable ride. Fresh Foam is a fusion of plush foam and advanced design, creating an ultra-cushioned and geometrically sound ride. Encouraging a smooth heel-toe transition, the new foam provides even more cushioning for a smoother run, with higher energy return, allowing you to put in more miles before your legs become heavy. Attenuating shock impact, the Fresh Foam protects against joint stress when striking down on hard, unforgiving surfaces without compromising a responsive, natural ride.
Completing the New Balance 680v9 is a rubber outsole that provides durable traction so you can go further and faster for longer. The full rubber outsole has been reconfigured to increase traction and durability, especially in high-wear areas. The rubber forms a solid bond with the ground beneath it, so you remain grounded at all times. The durable rubber outsole will withstand wear and tear and ensure traction on uneven terrain. The v9 now has a wider forefoot, increasing the shoe's surface area to enhance traction while improving stability.
