Nike Zegama 2 Trail Running Shoes
Up the Sierra, through the woods, to the top of the trail, you can go. Equipped with an ultra-responsive ZoomX foam midsole, the Zegama Trail 2 is designed to conquer steep ridges, jagged rocks and races from trailhead to tip.
Engineered Mesh Upper
The upper of the Nike Zegama 2 has been created with engineered mesh uppers that encase each foot in breathable comfort. The engineered mesh is stronger and more flexible than normal mesh. Perforations within the fabric increase airflow, creating a healthier environment for your feet to thrive. When temperatures rise, the well-ventilated upper ensures a constant cooling effect so you can power through any workout easily. The upper also includes an internal heel counter that helps increase stability on various terrains, whilst the built-in ankle gaiter seals out dirt and debris so you stay comfortable and protected. Overlays stretch across the toe for extra durability. Reflective details help to enhance your visibility when out in low-light conditions. Finishing the upper is a traditional lacing system that locks down the midfoot for greater stability and control, so you can feel confident on the trail. The Zegama 2 is slightly wider than its predecessor to account for foot expansion throughout your run.
ZoomX Midsole
Nike ZoomX foam delivers Nike Running's greatest energy return yet for responsive comfort on the trail. Ultra-light and super-responsive, the midsole material delivers Nike's greatest energy return yet; it absorbs impact and then expels it back out for a bounce-like effect. This energy-return technology reduces superfluous muscle power, diminishes fatigue and enhances performance, keeping you going longer. The revolutionary ZoomX foam is manufactured from Pebax, a product conventionally used in plastic bridges and other moulded parts and yields lightweight, soft and springy cushioning. Until now, combining these three characteristics has proven nearly impossible to achieve. Pebax has a lower density than some thermoplastic alternatives, making it lighter, flexible and more impact-resistant, whilst giving it a higher capacity for energy return. When blown into a foam these properties remain, gifting you with a lively underfoot feeling that encourages you to run fast.
Signalling the incredible resilience of ZoomX, the tiny creases on every midsole do not impact the foam's performance; these beauty marks are results of the autoclave process, which places the foam under extreme heat and pressure. The ZoomX sheets are then compressed in a Phylon preform, which shapes the midsole parts. Because the special foam is so lightweight (one-third the weight of Cushlon), Nike can use more of it, via an increased stack height, to separate your foot from the ground. This means you get a thick, supportive midsole that will spare your joints as you strike the hard, unforgiving ground. An updated full-length platform of this foam resides underfoot, with specialised geometry that provides enhanced stability and responsiveness.
Vibram Megagrip Outsole
Developed using a Vibram Megagrip outsole, the Zegama 2 from Nike provides extreme grip and traction on the trail. Developed for use on multiple terrains, the extremely durable rubber can form a solid bond with the ground to anchor you in place. Despite facing abuse from rough ground, the rubber remains robust and retains a strong shape and structure. A deeper, diverse lug pattern highlighted with greater spacing gives greater traction for more technical terrains, cutting into the earth for non-slip performance so you can feel comfortable when you step out.
This is Nike's most tested trail shoe to date, with over 35,000 miles logged globally.
