Petzl Grigri + Belay Device

The art of belaying starts here. The Grigri + is a cam-assisted blocking belay device for top-rope or lead climbing in the gym or outside. The anti-panic handle makes it especially useful for learning how to lower a climber.

Built for multi-purpose use, the Grigri + Belay Device can be used for both gym and crag climbing. Like many belay devices, the Grigri + uses standard belay techniques for feeding slack and catching falls, so you'll always have to keep a hand on the brake side of the rope. The Grigri also boasts assisted braking to help you stop when you begin to fall. When you lose your footing and begin to fall, the device pivots on the carabiner, tightens the rope, pinches the cam and brakes the rope, bringing you to a stop. Holding the brake side of the rope helps engage the cam; therefore, it is important to always hold the brake side of the rope. Compatible with a broad range of single rope diameters, the belay device can be used with 8.5 to 11 mm dynamic single ropes and is optimised for 8.9 to 10.5 mm. Rope installation diagrams have been engraved on the device to help you stay safely attached. An ergonomic handle allows you to easily unblock the rope and lower somebody down, whilst the ASSIST + mode makes it easier to take up slack for top rope belaying. The Petzl Grigri Plus Belay Device is simple to use for learners and instructors; it features an anti-panic handle which stops descents when a user pulls on the handle too hard. Cam-assisted blocking ensures a more comfortable belay: when the climber falls or weights the system, the rope tightens due to the action of the brake-side hand; the cam pivots to pinch and block the rope.
