Sythetic/Mesh Panel Upper
The upper of the X Ultra 3 uses Synthetic overlays to wrap the foot and hold it snugly in place, increasing comfort and stability. This material is also extremely durable, offering much-needed protection from loose debris along the trail which could cause damage to the shoe and the foot. Strategically placed mesh panels allow cool air to enter the shoe at the same time as releasing warmer air, creating a cool and fresh-feeling environment for the foot to sit in. The Quicklace lacing system offers a secure fastening which is quick and easy to adjust, allowing the wearer to receive the perfect tension they require almost effortlessly. A protective cap has been placed across the heel and toe area of the shoe. This will offer much-needed protection to these key areas which could potentially be damaged or feel discomfort if the shoe is knocked against rocks, walls and various other loose terrains that are commonly found along the trail. These caps can also offer additional support, helping to hold the foot securely in place inside of the shoe. A Pull Strap on the upper heel area allows the wearer to firmly grip the shoe, making it easier for application and removing. Plush padding fitted inside of the tongue and heel cuff areas allows the shoe to sit close to the skin with a reduced risk of chafe and discomfort occurring. Placed on the footbed is an Ortholite Moulded Sockliner. This offers additional cushioning to the footbed of the shoe and allows it to mould to the user's unique foot shape, offering a personal, plushly cushioned fit.
Injected EVA Midsole
Supporting mile after mile of trekking, an injected EVA lines the midsole - an industry leader on good merit, EVA is both light and flexible, with a great disposition as a cushioning material. It actively reduces forces pressed upon the underfoot for a smooth stride through the transition with ample of shock dispersion. The format assists with keeping weight down and maximising responsive cushioning whatever the terrain ahead. The midsole platform also feature's Salomon's lightweight advanced chassis and midfoot shank, placed between the outsole and midsole, maximises motion control, energy management and push through protection for an efficient, stable and responsive ride.
High Traction Contagrip Outsole
The Salomon X Ultra 3 Walking shoe features a Contagrip outsole, providing unique traction technology. With a mix of compound, lob geometry and density, it gives the shoes brilliant grip and durability, regardless of the terrain underneath. Utilising different combinations of harder, softer and grippier Contagrip compounds, Salomon's adventure running outsole provides the perfect blend of grip and durability to cover a multitude of terrains. Designed with specifically positions forefoot flex grooves and self-cleaning multi-directional lugs, these outsoles are field tested and proven to dynamically tackle rugged terrains.
