Climashield Waterproof Upper

The Salomon Toundra Pro Climashield Waterproof upper is constructed from a superlight combination of leather and Aerogel insulation. The warmth and protection offers resistance in extreme conditions such as -40F/-40C.

Salomon has teamed up with nano-technology leaders, Aspen AeroGels. AeroGels works by weaving the lightest manmade material on earth into a fabric known as SpaceLoft. Not only does this provide warmth and insulation but it also delivers support, protection and comfort without the unwanted bulk. Materials are strategically placed where it is needed the most to produce a boot that not only features less bulk and superior fit but also keeps your feet in the comfort zone 50% longer.

Also featuring within the upper is a gusseted tongue which is a material bridge that connects the tongue to the upper to help eradicate debris from entering the shoe, which is extremely prominent on difficult and unpredictable terrain. A protective rubber toe cap further reinforces the stability and protection while the furry lining adds insulation.

Rounding off the upper is a DIE cut EVA Sockliner which adds comfort and insulation to help keep your feet warm and dry as well as promoting efficient moisture management by wicking away the build-up of excess sweat and moisture. The sockliner also guards against friction and irritation such as chafing.

Moulded EVA Midsole

Supporting mile after mile of trekking is the moulded EVA midsole. Injected EVA lines the midsole - an industry leader on good merit, the EVA is both light and flexible, with a great disposition as a cushioning material. It actively reduces forces pressed upon the underfoot for a smooth stride through the transition with ample shock dispersion. An external heel counter provides rearfoot stability and protection which works to stabilise the whole body while a protective rubber heel cap adds durability and solidity to a susceptible area. Lightweight heel foam offers a plush cushioning feel at the rear of the foot.

Winter Contragrip Outsole

The Shoes have the ultra-grippy Contragrip outsole, designed for snow and ice, providing you with an unmatched level of grip and traction. This compound means the shoes will not only form a solid grip between the shoe and the terrain but will work to shed mud quickly. This is due to their large lugs, therefore providing you with the perfect level of grip on all types of terrain, including wet and muddy conditions thanks to their deep lugs, which dig into the ground, anchoring you in place. This will benefit you by acting as a solid base for you to push off from when taking the next stride, as well as digging into the ground when braking or changing direction.
