Breathable Mesh Upper
The extremely lightweight mesh upper will keep your feet feeling ventilated and fresh. As you begin to exercise, warm air will start to build up within the inside of the shoe. This air is able to escape through the material, which is then replaced by cooler air from the outside. This will mean that the feet will stay in a comfortable and cool climate, which will increase comfort. The sweat produced will also be able to exit the material, where it is then released away from the feet. Furthering the comfort, a GORE-TEX membrane makes the Kinabalu 2 the ideal running shoes for wet and muddy trails. Providing comfortable protection, the GORE-TEX membrane is impenetrable for rain and humidity but lets sweat and heat escape, keeping your feet warm and dry. Covering the toes, there is a thicker material that will prevent injuries from occurring from bumps and knocks which you may receive on the trails. The thermoplastic polyurethane support will keep the foot in a firm and upright position, the walls of the rearfoot are strong, which will prevent it from rolling or twisting out of position. Up the foot laces and a form-fitting tongue will make it easy to achieve a comfortable and streamlined fit. The no-sew toe guard reduces the risk of irritation from rubbing and chafing within the shoe.
eRIDE Midsole
Providing you with a smooth and plush ride, the eRIDE combines protection, cushioning and energy return. Towards the bottom, EVA is extremely firm, which will instantly absorb any shocks from below. After heavy shocks and impacts, the energy is returned as rebound and bounce back, which will give you an added spring in your step. Dual-density kinetic foam offers the durability and rebound of previous foams but with increased plush cushioning that protects against treacherous trails and rocky roads for a comfortable ride. The body is kept protected from the rigours and fatigue of long trail runs without losing the efficiency of the eRIDE geometry, working in tandem together for a smooth, energetic ride. An Ortholite ECO X-40 Footbed provides further comfort and protection.
Versatile Traction Outsole
The Versatile Traction outsole has a configuration that will help you stay in control of every step for longer. The rubber used is extremely durable, which means that it will be able to retain all of its properties over a long course of time. The lugs are strategically positioned to give you outstanding traction and control over the different levels of rocks, roots, and trails. As beneficial on dry ground as it is in deep mud or wet surfaces, the lugs are able to dig into the ground, assisting with takeoffs by securing your foot and providing a firm base to take off from. It will also dig into to ground as you start to break, giving you full control at all times. In addition, there are strategically orientated chevrons placed all around the forefoot, which will provide extra stability and support over long hours and long distances of running.
