Salewa Mountain Trainer 2 GORE-TEX Walking Shoes

A solid, flexible alpine approach shoe that's built for all-day comfort and technical abilities on hikes, via ferratas and treks in any terrain and all weather with a sure-grip Vibram sole and waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX protection.

GORE-TEX Upper

Constructed using a suede leather upper, the Mountain Trainer 2 GORE-TEX will protect your feet on those long hiking days. The upper is highly robust, to provide exceptional levels of protection for feet to thrive, preventing knocks and bumps from hurting your feet, whilst also being durable to ensure you have a long-lasting pair of approach shoes that you can rely on. A full-protective rubber rand provides feet with 360-degree abrasive-resistant protection in rocky terrain and foot jams. To ensure feet are shielded from poor, changing weather and soggy ground, the shoes have a GORE-TEX Extended Comfort lining, to provide you with durable waterproofing and excellent breathability. This lining repels rain and moisture, to ensure that no matter what conditions you're hiking in, feet will remain cosy and dry. The breathable nature of the shoes will help to prevent feet from overheating during the more intense periods of your adventure, whilst also wicking moisture to further reduce distractions or discomfort. The shoe uses Salewa's 3F System to further improve the fit and flexibility of the upper and provides support and a blister-free fit, dramatically improving the experience of wearing the shoes. The improved lasted construction is 15% lighter and more flexible than the original and ensures a comfortable fit. Climbing-specific laces can be fine-tuned at the toe to provide you with a precise fit and support on technical terrain. Finally, the shoes have a protective stretch gaiter under the laces, which helps to keep rain and groundwater out.

PU Midsole

The Mountain Trainer 2 GORE-TEX has an expanded PU midsole, which will provide feet with long-lasting shock absorbency and excellent rebound. It has been ergonomically designed to cradle your foot, allowing you to feel comfortable from start to finish of your journey, no matter how far. The midsole works to adsorb shock, meaning your joints are spared when striking down on hard, unforgiving surfaces, therefore preventing injuries or discomfort. Not only this, but the PU midsole will help propel you forward during strides and provide feet with ample cushioning to ensure distraction-free, comfortable hikes. Finally, the shoes have a cushioning OrthoLite footbed that not only provides underfoot cushioning and soft landing but will also work to wick moisture from inside the shoes, to keep feet dry.

Vibram Outsole

Providing feet with agility and stability underfoot, the hiking shoes have a Vibram outsole, ensuring grip on a range of surfaces, and helping you remain confident in all areas of your hike. The durable rubber will remain reliable, whilst standing up against abuse from tough and uneven terrain. Deep lugs can dig into the wet and muddy ground, which will anchor the feet in place and form a solid base for you to push off from. In addition to this, the design of the outsole will encourage the mud to escape out of the outsole, keeping the performance of the outsole high. Under the midfoot, the shoes have a special via ferrata tread zone, which specifically angled lugs, which help to maximise forces that are applied through the foot, therefore providing improved grip on a range of terrains and surfaces.
