The North Face Altamesa 500 Men's Trail Running Shoes

Designed in collaboration with The North Face athlete team, the Altamesa 500 is a highly cushioned and stable performance training shoe for trail running.

Engineered Mesh Upper

With optimised air circulation taken into consideration, the upper of the Altamesa 500 ensures you with foot freshness until the last mile. Perforations within the mesh allow for air to effectively circulate around the feet, by releasing warm air and allowing for cool air to enter. This minimises foot fatigue for the runner, keeping motivation high. Stability overlays sit atop of the material, providing your foot with support and protection from possible snags and bumps, this includes a rubber toe protection for the more vulnerable sections. Within the upper is a built in heel counter, helping to provide a stable platform for your foot over a variety of terrains by locking the heel securely into place. Comfort is maximised by the plush heel cup and collar for a better fit against the skin, this reduces the chances of dirt and debris from entering the shoe and causing discomfort. On the back of the upper is a gear-inspired pull tab for easier entry whilst also being highly robust material with high durability. A padded tongue sits within the upper, increasing overall comfort. The tongue is gusseted to ensure extra support and lockdown within the shoe, while a ghillie lacing system further compliments this through maximised security and comfort around the midfoot.

DREAM Midsole

This is an innovative midsole technology, which pairs plush landings with responsive rebounds to keep things soft when the miles get hard. The cushioning technology assists in protecting joints and feet by absorbing shock from unforgiving surfaces below as you strike down upon them, before releasing the building pressure within following strides for an added propulsion over the uneven terrains ahead. Although the foam is ultra soft and bouncy, durability has not been forgotten and you can expect the same springy feeling time and time again as you wrack up the miles.

SURFACE CTRL Outsole

Utilising a bio-based rubber compound, superior traction and durability is provided with The North Face SURFACE CTRL technology. This is optimised for trail terrain with 4mm lugs for biting into a variety of surfaces, whether that be slippery rocks or mud. The outsole has been strategically placed in key high impact areas to ensure better comfortability and grip in the toe and heel areas, A stability zone in the forefoot completes the outsole with inherent stability over trails.
