Knitted One-Piece Upper

Light, breathable and durable, the upper of the MAXx2 has been constructed using a knitted one-piece material to provide feet with maximal comfort and performance no matter where the trail takes you. Its durable design offers long-lasting use that stands up to rocks, roots and debris as you run. Teamed with a foot-shaped last, the upper ensures a comfortable performance fit. Locking the foot from the arch, the MAXx2 features VJ's innovative Fitlock system to provide an optimal fit and extra protection from impacts when running. A traditional lacing system prevents in-shoe slippage, providing a customisable fit that further locks down the midfoot.

SuperFOAMance Midsole

The midsole of the VJ MAXx2 has been created using high-tech and ultralight nitrogen-infused foam that provides high energy return and responsiveness. This new foam is a modern, supercritical foam that is lighter, more responsive, more comfortable and more propulsive than a traditional EVA foam. Compared to other foams, SuperFOAMance is more durable and does not rip as easily. Infusing nitrogen into the foam, VJ have expanded their midsoles, increasing underfoot comfort and propulsion. The foam helps propel you forward, helping to increase speed while absorbing shocks and negative impact forces as you strike hard surfaces. This reduces stress on the joints and the risk of injury. Completing the midsole is a full-length rock plate, which protects the sole of your foot from sharp rocks and sticks. The rock plate also makes the shoe torsionally more rigid and increases the energy efficiency of the midsole.

Superior Contact Outsole

Featuring a unique outsole comprising VJ's Butyl rubber compound, the MAXx2 utilises their famous Superior Contact outsole that ensures ultimate control and traction whilst on the road. The outsole can form a strong grip on various terrains, guaranteeing complete underfoot traction. Naturally tough, the outsole will maintain its shape and definition over time. 4mm multi-directional lugs have been meticulously shaped and positioned to dig deep into the ground and form a solid grip that you can rely on.

Fit Scale

VJ have graded the fit on all their shoes from 1 to 5 to help you find the perfect fitting shoe. Grade 1 represents their most precise and narrow fit. On the other end of the scale grade 5 has the widest fit.

The lower number on the scale, the narrower the fit, ensures minimal movement of the foot, which is essential when running fast on technical terrain. The shoes with the higher numbers on the scale will suit people with wider feet and those who want extra comfort. Wider fit is usually preferred on longer runs and races because feet tend to swell during longer distances.
