Saucony and other brand technology can sometimes be hard to understand. Also, what advantages do these technologies have and how can they work for you? Below is an overview explaining some of the terms you will often read about when looking at Saucony Footwear.

Contents

Grid Cushioning System:

The Saucony Grid Cushioning System was introduced in 1991, where a whole generation of runners has become addicted to the sweet ride of Grid technology. It uses woven Hytrel filaments in a grid configuration that centres the heel on impact, for a superior blend of cushioning and stability. A bit like a tennis racquet for a runner's foot, absorbing and deflecting impacts and protecting the body from the force of the road.

ProGrid Cushioning System:

When Grid technology was first introduced it was truly revolutionary. ProGrid technology is taking it one step further. It is built closer to the foot and provides greater cushioning without compromising support and durability. ProGrid is created with Respon-Tek, Saucony's latest impact deflection technology, which is made from a blend of foams and synthetic rubbers. It creates a platform that reduces shock impact whilst setting the foot up for a smooth, heel-to-toe transition.

FleXion Plate:

You find the fastest runners are those who move most efficiently from heel to toe. Flexion Plate technology actually facilitates this crucial motion, guiding the foot from heel strike to forefoot using an impact-resistant piece of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). This dampens much of the joint and bone movement in the forefoot that is caused by the high-impact forces of heel strike, allowing you to toe off with more force and less energy.

Arch-Lock:

Arch.jpg

Saucony's Arch-Lock System is a simple but elegant construction method that wraps around the midfoot area and keeps it snugly in position on the midsole. By keeping the arch where it belongs, you enjoy superior comfort, control and support.

SRC:

Super Rebound Compound was born from Saucony's HRC technology. SRC in the heel reduces the shock transmitted to the body from impact, and sets the foot up for a smooth, heel-to-toe transition.

HRC:

Hrc.jpg

HRC is Saucony's premier cushioning system that uses a responsive custom compound of EVA and rubber that provides comfort through the late stages of the gait cycle as well as a smooth toe-off.

Impact Interface:

Interface1.jpg

Embedded between the EVA and the SRC (Super Rebound Compound), the Impact Interface isolates and cushions heel-strike impact so the heel can compress without bottoming out.

Comfortemp:

Comfort.jpg

Material that monitors heat/cold to keep your feet at a comfortable 28 degrees.

"Bought Saucony trail shoes as they usually have good level of cushioning, making them good for light trails and some on road use. Although the Vibram sole on this pair is good for rough ground, it is treacherous on a slippery smooth surface. Other than that, the shoe is largely of mesh construction and is totally porous. Useless for British winters. Finally, although it is matter of taste, the laces and various trimmings on the shoe (bright blue, maroon, a shade of yellow) are difficult to pair with matching gear, if that is important to you."

"I've owned 20+ pairs of Saucony trainers. These are the best. Very durable (I ran every day cross country for a year in the last pair before they started to break; I glued them and they lasted another year), very comfortable, very supportive. I won't buy anything else for running cross country. Doctors & podiatrists recommend Saucony for a good reason!"
