And they did it! Setting an entirely new standard for technical shells.

WHAT'S NEW WITH GORE-TEX PRODUCTS?

GORE‑TEX product technology features an innovative ePE membrane and carefully selected textiles. The rigorous testing and proven material expertise for specific uses enable durable performance with a long product life.

The ePE (expanded polyethylene) membrane in new GORE-TEX products is a key milestone in the brand's responsible performance journey, providing high-performing, durable products that are engineered for long product life.

• Durably waterproof, reliably breathable and totally windproof.

• Rigorously tested for long product life. Longer use can save energy and resources compared to creating new products.

• PFC-free laminate* including its water repellent (DWR) treatment.

• The innovative membrane and selected textiles in this laminate help reduce its carbon footprint (per Higg MSI).

MORE DETAILS ON THE GORE-TEX EPE MEMBRANE:

The innovative new GORE-TEX membrane is based on expanded Polyethylene (ePE). This membrane is light, thin yet strong and enables durable waterproof, windproof and breathable performance. It is PFC-free* and has a reduced carbon footprint (per Higg MSI) achieved by its lower material mass along with a new material combination.

*advances Gore Fabrics´ goal of being free of PFCs of environmental concern over the lifecycle of its consumer products. In this case, the goal is accomplished using nonfluorinated materials. Learn more here

THE PATAGONIA SUPER FREE ALPINE JACKET FEATURING GORE-TEX ePE

The Super Free Alpine Jacket is for climbers who need a technical shell for modern alpinism.

With simple yet innovative details and cutting-edge 3-layer, PFC-free GORE-TEX fabric, this jacket keeps the storm on the outside and you calm on the inside. Three-layer, waterproof/breathable GORE-TEX fabric is PFC-free and 100% recycled, providing next-level hard-shell technology that is lightweight, packable and durable; the shell uses a new ePE membrane that is PFC-free-that means the fabric and finishes do not contain any perfluorinated chemicals.

The helmet-compatible hood with a revolutionary, lightly insulated Storm Seal gasket seals warmth in and keeps the wind out; dual point adjusts with Cohaesive cord locks for the perfect fit. The drop-tail hem with a Clean Clip hip cutout increases high-stepping mobility and reduces interference while clipping gear to a harness, meaning fewer distractions. The Cohaesive embedded cord-lock system has two contact points at the hem for intuitive one-handed operation, great for quick and easy alteration. The cuffs feature minimal self-fabric hook-and-loop closures and internal gaskets that keep sleeves in place when you're swinging a tool and seal out the elements. Two extra-high, deep handwarmer pockets with watertight zippers stay clear of a harness or a pack waistbelt, whilst the zippered, interior left-chest pocket provides a secure place to store any essentials. The underarm waterproof zippers allow for easy heat venting, whilst the RECCO reflector ensures visibility in low light.
