FIRST LOOK: HOKA Clifton Pro
HOKA's latest addition to the Clifton family brings a new foam, more stack and a higher-spec feel aimed at runners logging serious miles.
The HOKA Clifton has been one of the most popular daily running shoes on the market for years, but the brand is taking things up a notch with the all-new HOKA Clifton Pro.
Set to launch on 9th July, the Clifton Pro sits above the standard Clifton in HOKA's line-up, combining a high-stack design with a new supercritical foam that promises a softer and more responsive ride. On paper, it looks like HOKA's answer to the growing category of high-performance daily trainers.

HOKA Clifton Pro: What's New?
The biggest talking point is underfoot. The HOKA Clifton Pro debuts a new PROGLIDE™+ midsole, bringing a more energetic feel to the Clifton family while carving out its own place in the line-up. HOKA has also given the shoe a more aggressive MetaRocker profile, designed to help runners roll smoothly through their stride.
At 42mm in the heel with an 8mm drop, the HOKA Clifton Pro delivers plenty of cushioning for easy runs, long runs and everyday mileage. Despite the generous stack height, the shoe weighs around 296g in a men's UK 9.5, making it lighter than some max-cushioned rivals.
The upper has been redesigned too, with engineered mesh aimed at delivering a more secure fit, while the outsole uses strategically placed rubber pods to balance grip, durability and flexibility.

Who Is the HOKA Clifton Pro For?
If you're looking for a shoe that can soak up daily miles without feeling overly soft, the HOKA Clifton Pro is worth a look. On paper, it strikes a balance between comfort and responsiveness, making it an option for everything from easy runs and long runs to marathon training.
It also gives runners who enjoy the Clifton series another option within the family, offering a more energetic ride while retaining the cushioning HOKA is known for.

Where Does the HOKA Clifton Pro Fit in the Line-Up?
The regular HOKA Clifton remains one of the best daily running shoes for runners who prioritise comfort and versatility. The Mach and Mach X series focus more on speed, while the Bondi offers maximum cushioning.
The HOKA Clifton Pro looks set to bridge the gap between those models. It delivers more energy return and more cushioning than the standard Clifton, but without venturing into plated territory.
That could make it an appealing option for runners looking for one shoe that can comfortably handle daily training, long runs and steady marathon preparation miles.

HOKA Clifton Pro vs Clifton 10
The Clifton Pro doesn't replace the Clifton 11, it expands the range. While the Clifton 11 remains the go-to option for runners wanting a dependable everyday trainer, the Clifton Pro introduces a new foam and a more energetic ride for those wanting a little more from their daily miles.
If your priority is reliable comfort for regular training, the Clifton 10 still makes plenty of sense. If you're looking for a more lively underfoot feel for your mileage, the Clifton Pro could be the more compelling choice.

Final Thoughts
With a new foam and a higher-spec design, the HOKA Clifton Pro looks set to add another option to HOKA's growing line-up of road shoes. Runners won't have long to wait either, with the shoe landing at SportsShoes on 9th July.
