In 2021, ASICS achieved an industry first by simultaneously launching two new racing shoes the METASPEED™ SKY and METASPEED™ EDGE, specifically designed to match two distinct running styles, optimising performance. Since then the team at the ASICS Institute of Sport Science has collaborated with their elite athletes to continue to innovate existing models whilst also developing a brand new option to cater to the diversity of the running world.

Improved Fit and Breathability

The updated upper of the METASPEED™ SKY TOKYO has been extensively tested for fit and comfort. The new MOTION WARP™ 3.0 upper comfortably wraps the foot and secures it to the shoe's platform locking down the midfoot with a sock-like construction that is flexible and comfortable to give you confident footing and total freedom of movement. Micro perforations allow for constant steady airflow throughout the upper to keep feet feeling and smelling fresh, helping you stay focused on the road ahead and the no-sew construction ensures zero hot-spots or chafe points. A traditional lacing system anchors the shoe to the foot to keep you secure as you speed along.

Faster and Lighter

The METASPEED™ SKY TOKYO has been crafted meticulously, shaving down weight whilst preserving everything that makes the shoe fast and comfortable. This version weighs in at 7 grams less than its predecessor, making them lighter and faster.

Optimised Carbon Plate Positioning

The METASPEED™ SKY TOKYO features a snappy carbon plate that delivers maximum energy return for ultimate propulsion to spring you into your next step. In this version, a flatter carbon plate is positioned on top of FF LEAP™ cushioning helping to proper you upwards for extended strides. Comparatively the new METASPEED™ EDGE TOKYO has a forward-angled carbon plate positioned beneath FF LEAP™ cushioning helps propel you forward for increased cadence.

FF LEAP™ Midsole Foam

ASICS have utilised the new, lighter-than-ever FF LEAP™ midsole foam in the METASPEED™ SKY TOKYO. This is ASICS' lightest, softest, bounciest foam ever and pairs with FF TURBO™ PLUS found in the previous model for lightweight comfort and peak energy return. The new METASPEED™ models have been rigorously tested and have been proven to be more energy efficient than their predecessors with the METASPEED™ SKY TOKYO coming in at 18.8% more efficient compared to the METASPEED™ SKY PARIS

ASICS METASPEED™ SKY TOKYO vs ASICS METASPEED™ EDGE TOKYO

The METASPEED™ SKY & EDGE TOKYO shoes are ASICS pinnacle racing products designed for stride-style runners (SKY) and cadence-style runners (EDGE) with the main difference between the shoes being the carbon plate positioning and shape.

Speed can be calculated by multiplying stride length and cadence. All METASPEED™ shoes are designed to extend athletes' stride lengths for faster. The METASPEED™ EDGE TOKYO propelling cadence runners forward for to accelerated cadence and the METASPEED™ SKY TOKYO helping to propel runners upwards for extended strides towards the finish line.
