FIRST LOOK: adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra

Today, adidas TERREX unveils the future of speed-focussed footwear with the launch of the Agravic Speed Ultra.

“The development of this shoe was a true team effort. We worked closely with our Team TERREX athletes throughout the creation process including Tom Evans and Abby Hall, podium finishers in Chamonix last year, as well as course record holder Petter Engdahl. We tested a variety of concept designs, material combinations, midsole shapes and the latest technology. All of which led us to the creation of the dynamic rocker geometry; an all-new innovation designed for dynamic forefoot running. The end result is a shoe designed to help runners break their boundaries and find their summit on ultra distance races. The adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra has been one of the most eagerly anticipated trail racing shoes of 2024, ever since it was seen on the feet of Tom Evans during his incredible victory in last year's Western States 100 ultra-distance trail race.

Lightweight synthetic upper

Providing ultimate comfort and breathability, the Agravic Speed Ultra features a synthetic upper. The breathable, foot-hugging upper construction supports your every stride, providing comfort on the trail. The upper allows air to circulate to reduce the temperature inside the shoe whilst simultaneously releasing built-up heat, keeping you cool and comfortable even when your run heats up. The shoes feature seamless overlays increasing protection and durability. Using seamless overlays prevents chafing and irritation from occurring, whilst adding excellent levels of durability and comfort. A gusseted tongue provides a snug fit and comfortable feel all while working to stop dirt and trail debris from entering the shoe, keeping you distraction-free on the trail.

Reflective elements have been added to provide visibility in low-light conditions, so you can continue with those early morning or evening runs. Completing the upper is a traditional lacing system to keep your foot locked in and secure, preventing in-shoe slipping from occurring.

Lightstrike Pro midsole

The midsole has been constructed using Lightstrike Pro technology that delivers an optimal balance of lightweight and responsive cushioning, for a fast ride. Designed to provide responsive cushioning without unnecessary bulk, the midsole combines energy return and stability into one of the lightest TPU foams on the market. This propels you forward and provides explosive movement and enduring speed. The foam spares your joints as you strike down on hard, unforgiving surfaces, dampening impacts and reducing the risk of injury whilst you run.

Alongside this, the shoes feature a rocker-shaped geometry to promote a smooth roll-off and a more efficient running gait for a quick pace.

Continental Rubber outsole

Inspired by tyre technology, the Continental Rubber Outsole completes the adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra Trail Running Shoes by providing extraordinary grip and better traction over rugged or wet terrain. The outsole uses deep multidirectional lugs to dig into the ground to provide you with great grip and stability, giving you the confidence to take on any trail.
