Man vs Train Strava Challenge

Fresh from his recent victory at UTMB Val D’Aran 100k, Brooks athlete Luke Grenfell-Shaw takes on his latest Strava Challenge in the sequel to Man vs Boat.

This was an exciting race against the Ullswater Steamer in the Lake District, with the aim to reach Howtown from Glenridding before the steamer in a head-to-head race from pier to pier. Unfortunately, Luke was narrowly beaten and now he looks to settle to score.

This time, we headed to Llanberis in Snowdonia for Man vs Train, as Luke takes on the Mountain Train in a race to the summit of Wales’ highest peak.

We gave Luke 60 minutes to beat the train, which in theory should be enough time to win the race. However, in an attempt to slow him down, we've added a shoe change at the point he transitions from road to trail.

He’ll start the race in a pair of super-fast Brooks Hyperion 2 running shoes for the fast, opening section, before switching to the race-ready Brooks Catamount Agil trail running shoes as he hits the off-road terrain.
