Which Sports Get the Most Swipes on Tinder
Written By: SportsShoes
With dating app usage at an all-time high since the Coronavirus pandemic, we decided to run a tongue in cheek study to find out which active hobbies are most likely to receive a swipe right.
Putting six different sports to the test, including running, cycling, yoga, weightlifting, climbing and hiking, we wanted to reveal which sports are most attractive for men and women, inspiring some healthy competition between the sports with some surprising findings!
For the study, we decided to use Tinder, with it being one of the biggest and most well recognised of dating apps. We created male and female dating profiles for each sport, with one male and one female model photographed taking part in each of the sports, dressed in the appropriate kit for the activity.
Tinder profiles were then created for each sport and the number of matches gained from 200 swipes were collated for each, to determine which sports were considered most match worthy.
Read on to discover the winners, along with recommendations for what to wear for each sport, handpicked by our experts for both performance and ‘match worthy-ness’.
Although this study is a bit of fun, the most important thing when it comes to sport is enjoying yourself, so whatever it is that gets you moving stick to it. Because it’s no fun standing still.
Which sports gain men the most matches?

Our study revealed that men who do yoga are most likely to gain matches on the dating app, with the male model’s Warrior Pose proving a big hit, receiving 25 matches per 200 swipes.
Yoga top for men: NIKE DRI-FIT YOGA T-SHIRT - SU20
Yoga shorts for men: VULKAN MULTISPORT LYCRA SHORTS
Deadlifting into second place for our male model was weightlifting, with the sport receiving 21 matches per 200 swipes on the platform.
Weightlifting top for men: UNDER ARMOUR TECH 2.0 HALF ZIP TOP - AW20
Weightlifting shoes for men: NIKE METCON 6 TRAINING SHOES - HO20
Interestingly, the least attractive sport was found to be hiking, with only a measly two matches per 200 swipes. Perhaps due to the rather practical hiking boots donned by the male model in the study!
If you do feel inclined to keep the boots on for your dating profile, we’d recommend: https://www.sportsshoes.com/product/adi13399/adidas-terrex-trailmaker-cold%2Crdy-walking-boots-~-aw20/
Which sports gain women the most matches?

Perhaps surprisingly, our research revealed that female cyclists are most popular on Tinder, with 58% of people swiping right for them. The sport amassed a whopping 116 matches from 200 swipes, with the model’s cycling helmet proving that safety is sexy.
Women’s cycling jacket: 2XU AERO WINTER WATERPROOF WOMEN'S CYCLE JACKET
Women’s cycling shoes: NIKE SUPERREP CYCLE WOMEN'S TRAINING SHOES - HO20
The second most attractive sport for women was running, with 114 matches gained per 200 swipes.
Women’s running shoes: HOKA CLIFTON EDGE WOMEN'S RUNNING SHOES - AW20
Women’s running bottoms: ADIDAS OWN THE RUN GLOW WOMEN'S TIGHTS - AW20
Interestingly, it was observed that the female model used in the study gained many more Tinder matches overall when compared to the male model. However, once again hiking was deemed the least ’match worthy’.
Again, if you must wear hiking boots for your dating profile, we’d recommend: https://www.sportsshoes.com/product/mer1294/merrell-thermo-freeze-6-inch-waterproof-women%27s-walking-boots-~-aw20/
So, the dating apps have spoken, but us athletes all know that we do sport out of passion, not because it’s deemed as attractive – so keep doing what you love and enjoy all the health and wellbeing benefits that come with it.
