Engineered Mesh Upper

The Gel-Pulse 16 features an engineered mesh upper for exceptional comfort and breathability. Its micro-perforations allow for excellent airflow, letting hot air escape while fresh air circulates, keeping your feet cool and preventing overheating. The soft, lightweight mesh provides a comfortable wearing experience without adding bulk. A traditional lacing system ensures a secure fit, complemented by a padded tongue and collar for plush softness. Heel and tongue tabs make it easy to put on and take off the shoes. Additionally, the upper is made with recycled plastic, making it an eco-conscious choice.

FlyteFoam Midsole

The midsole of the Gel-Pulse 16 has been made from FlyteFoam, offering the perfect balance of lightweight and rebound properties. The foam provides plenty of protection, bounce and comfort, with unmatched shock absorption and a lively ride. FlyteFoam is 55% lighter than the industry standard midsole compounds and buffers against the ground to protect you from unnecessary stress and fatigue. FlyteFoams reinforced, organic fibres let the material bounce back to its original shape after every run, so you can train harder, more frequently for longer, without the worry that your shoes might not be able to take it. In the rearfoot, ASICS' signature GEL technology adds to the bouncy nature of the midsole. It reduces shock during the impact phase, sparing your joints as you strike down onto hard, unforgiving concrete and allowing for a smooth transition to mid-stance. Completing the midsole is an eco-dyed OrthoLite Hybrid Maxlite sockliner, which provides added underfoot cushioning for long training sessions and keeps feet dry. It has been manufactured using less water and producing fewer carbon emissions, for an environmentally-friendly option.

AHARPLUS Outsole

The AHARPLUS outsole ensures supreme grip and traction. ASICS' High Abrasion Rubber Plus is a durable rubber compound strategically placed in high-contact areas like the heel plug, making the shoe more resilient to wear and tear. This high-abrasion outsole provides a firm grip, protecting itself from damage and preventing users from losing control or slipping. This exceptionally durable compound is 50% more durable than standard ASICS High Abrasion rubber, offering maximum protection and longevity. The outsole creates a strong bond with the ground, allowing you to maintain full control. Additionally, flex grooves on the outsole provide enhanced traction and allow for natural foot flexion, enabling easy and unhindered paces.

This shoe is designed with speed and comfort in mind, with hours spent testing it at the ASICS Institute of Sport Science (ISS) in Japan.
