Thanks to the cut, the down loses none of its fluffiness or fill power. Elongated chambers prevent the down from bunching at the sides. The sensitive foot area is also provided with additional warmth, thanks to the three-dimensional foot-box with a particularly comfortable filling.
The Deuter Astro Pro 1000 Down Sleeping Bag is constructed from a 30D PA Ripstop fabric. Thanks to its extremely dense weave, this new feather-like microfibre cover fabric is extremely water repellent and, at the same time, highly breathable, so it protects the down from clumping due to moisture - both from outside and inside. The extremely fine down and windproof nylon Ripstop material is a winner thanks to its smooth texture. The DWR coating ensures dirt and water roll off the outside of the bag, helping to keep it dry and clean. DryZone is used at the head and foot areas for extra water repellency where the sleeping bag is likely to touch the wet walls of the tent. The down used within this sleeping bag is certified according to RDS (Responsible Down Standard), and it is a bluesign product thanks to the environmentally friendly manufacture, so you can enjoy your slumbers with an easy conscience. The Astro Pro 1000 has a comfort range of -12 degrees celsius, which is based on the lowest temperature at which a 'standard' woman (25 yrs / 60 kg / 160 cm) can expect to sleep comfortably in a relaxed position. This range ensures a comfortable sleep, ideal for inexperienced users. The lower limit of the Astro is -20 degrees celsius. This is based on the lowest temperature at which a 'standard' adult male (25 yrs / 70 kg / 173 cm) can expect to sleep comfortably in a relaxed position.
The construction of the sleeping bag features a PowerBox design. This is a waffle structure formed by combining longitudinal chambers and traverse stretch seams on the top of the sleeping bag from the knees downwards, ensuring that the down does not slip when the legs move around. This prevents cold spots and allows maximum heat retention. Elasticated chamber seams give a stretchy mummy shape that provides maximum freedom of movement, allowing the bag to stretch 25% more in width. The contour feature hood allows you to create the most snug fit, thanks to the easy to use drawcords. This works in combination with the insulating collar which fits snugly to the shoulders and neck and has a velcro fastening to prevent draughts.
