DRI-Tec Upper

The Palermo Lite Walking Shoes from Hi-Tec are made with a Dri-Tec Membrane. This feature allows the shoe to prevent water getting inside of the shoe but at the same time, allows cool air to flow in at the same time as releasing warmer air. This will allow the inside of the shoe and the wearer's feet to remain cool, dry and comfortable at all times. A durable suede has been chosen to construct the upper as it is a superbly durable material which will protect the shoe and foot from potentially rough and loose terrain which could cause damage. In addition to adding firm protection, the suede is extremely lightweight and comfortable. This will mean that the overall weight of the shoe is kept to a minimum, allowing you to keep going for longer without causing fatigue or tiredness. Firm material surrounds the forefoot and rearfoot, including a protective cap. This will prevent any injuries from occurring by bumps or knocks. A secure lacing system with rust-proof eyelets will allow you to find a comfortable and secure fit. The tongue is soft and padded, which will sit comfortably on the ankle, reducing the risk of irritation by rubbing or chafing. As well as this, the tongue combined with the padded ankle collar will block the entry of dirt and debris, keeping you comfortable and irritation-free.

EVA Midsole

An impact-absorbing EVA midsole ensures long-lasting cushioning and comfort. As your foot strikes the ground, the EVA midsole works to absorb shocks preventing the risks of repetitive injury, it also provides supreme cushioning for those long tiring walks. In addition, a removable EVA insole provides added underfoot cushioning and comfort. Lastly, a Forkshank has been added to the midsole to enhance the natural transition of the foot from heel-to-toe for much-needed support without additional weight and unnecessary bulk. Inside the shoe, there is also an Ortholite sockliner. This is treated with anti-microbial protection, which will prevent the growth of odour causing bacteria. As well as this, the sockliner will offer long-lasting cushioning to keep you going and preventing the feet from feeling tired and fatigued.

Hi-Tec Sports was founded in 1974, in Shoeburyness, Essex, England, by Frank Van Wezel. The company moved its headquarters to Southend-on-Sea, before relocating its head office to Amsterdam.

Hi-Tec Sports USA was started in Modesto, CA in 1978 by Duke and Kathy Jones. They developed the first lightweight hiking boot. This became the main success of Hi-Tec Sports USA. They also developed and named the "Magnum" boot. Duke and Kathy Jones sold their percentage of Hi-Tec Sports USA back to Frank Van Wezel in 1990.

In 1988, the company was floated on the London Stock Exchange. Frank van Wezel bought the company back in 2000. It remains privately held. In 2013, Hi-Tec founder and chairman Frank van Wezel, was awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Business Administration by Anglia Ruskin University.
