Fabrics And Construction

The Featherlite Smock from Montane is constructed from PERTEX QUANTUM ECO Rip-Stop material. Pertex Quantum uses a tightly woven structure to offer DWR treatment protection from wind and light showers as well as allowing the jacket to remain lightweight and comfortable. The Rip-Stop fabric feature offers much-needed protection to the jacket, reducing the risk of it snagging and tearing which will also reduce the protection the jacket provides for the wearer. As this material uses ECO fabric, it represents a commitment to sustainable fabric design, development and production. By utilising recycled yarns, Pertex reduces the demand for raw materials. The Articulated arms allow for a wider range of movement without causing the hem to lift and potentially allowing cold wind and rain into the jacket via the waist opening.

Other Key Features

A fitted collar provides a snug and comfortable fit around the neck area without causing the wearer to feel restricted and uncomfortable. This feature will also help to block cold wind and rain entering the jacket through the neck opening. Running a third of the way down the chest is a YKK zip which is finished with an internal wind strip to ensure full protection from the wind. This will also allow the wearer to quickly and easily adjust the amount of coverage and/or ventilation they receive, depending on weather conditions and personal preference. A roll-over guard has been added to the chin area of the zip which will reduce the risk of chafe and discomfort which could be caused by a bare zip. The wrist cuffs have elasticated bands fitted inside of them which helps to secure the cuffs around the arm and helps to prevent the sleeves riding up. This feature also helps to block wind and rain entering the jacket through the sleeve openings. This jacket is supplied with a Montane stuff sac. This allows the jacket to be packed away small to save space, making it an ideal piece of kit for travelling.
