The Fresh Foam X Hierro v9 offers ultimate reliability for adventurous terrain, with technical features designed specifically for the trail runner. Dual-density cushioning combines plush comfort with a more stable underfoot feel.
The upper is constructed from a soft knit mesh for maximum comfort. It is soft against the skin and highly breathable, allowing built-up heat and vapour to escape whilst fresh air flows in for a pleasant cooling sensation. The gusseted tongue seals out dirt and debris and is lightly padded to alleviate lace pressure and keep chafing at bay, while synthetic overlays help to increase durability. Toe Protect technology helps protect feet from rocks, roots and debris you might encounter on the trail, whilst a traditional lacing system locks down the midfoot for a secure, comfortable fit.
A Fresh Foam X midsole foam delivers New Balance's most cushioned Fresh Foam experience for incredible comfort. It is dual-density for plushness and stability. It attenuates shock as you strike down, protecting your joints from stress and strain. This energy is then converted into rebound to propel you into your next step, helping you run further, faster, using less energy. This means you get that flying feeling that allows you to traverse the great outdoors easily with speed. The combination of the above actions helps to improve your gait cycle. This is achieved through its unique foam structure with larger bubbles at the heel for impact absorption and smaller bubbles towards the forefoot for propulsion. The foam uses even more natural materials (3% bio-based content) to keep up with New Balance's commitment to being more environmentally friendly.
The outsole is constructed from a highly durable and grippy Vibram Megagrip compound. It forms a solid bond with the ground beneath for great adhesion. The revamped tread pattern and deeper, 6mm Traction lugs offer superior traction to keep you in control over technical terrain, great for hurtling up and down hills. This grip and traction inspire confidence so you can focus on the trail ahead.
