Mammut Ayako High GORE-TEX Walking Boots
A velours-textile shoe developed specifically for via ferrata - lightweight, direct, close-fitting and close to the ground. With Base Fit, external TPU Motion Control, FeetMap climate regulation, integrated memo foam and a pre-shaped tongue with elastic GORE-TEX construction. The 3-zone lacing, GORE-TEX Performance Comfort Footwear membrane and the proven, lightweight and climbing-compatible Vibram Mulaz sole with integrated Climbing Zone provide additional comfort, a precise fit and safety.
GORE-TEX Upper
The GORE-TEX upper ensures the boots are durably waterproof combined with optimised breathability offering enduring weather protection. Water stays on the outside while perspiration can easily escape from the inside, thanks to their non-insulated construction they are the ideal solution for people who value outstanding climate comfort and heat release. This high-cut via ferrata boot is designed for hikers and backpackers with attempting to stay light on their feet. The upper boasts extreme comfort thanks to the soft Nubuck leather that is enriched with a TPU heel cup for superb durability and protection from unseen trail hazards. The high cuff protects against stones and mud, preventing them getting inside the boots as well as provides additional ankle support on unpredictable terrains. Furthering the waterproofing on the shoe is the elastic GORE-TEX tongue construction ensuring that water can't get in from the top either keeping all parts of your feet well protected.
Designed with a 3 zone lacing system, this enables these boots to be adjusted easily on the move making them a very versatile depending on the type of ferrata you're on. This means that the toe, heel and ankle are all tightened with some autonomy. The lacing starts just above the toe cup which is perfect for a technical boot, this then extends up to a locking hook at the top of the forefoot. A reinforced flexible inside prevents you from twisting your ankle whilst maintaining full freedom of movement keeping you protected as well as safe. Base Fit technology has been designed by Mammut, the sliding webbing transfers power from the lacing area to the soles ensuring that there's an improved hold in the boot to increase safety as well as comfort. Finally, the upper has zones which feature liquid rubber reinforcements protecting you and the boots against abrasion and damage furthering your safety making sure you're protected tackling any via ferrata.
Three-Layer EVA Midsole
Mammut have used a three-layer construction for the midsole providing you with excellent cushioning throughout. The variety of density as well as thickness of EVA has been mapped out perfectly on the midsole of the shoe giving you the correct amount of support throughout at key areas. The layer which resides under the toe offers sensitivity needed to keep the forefoot well protected. The layer under the heel absorbs energy allowing the final layer of plush cushioning to give you that energy back and helping you walk for longer whilst feeling lighter on your feet. With high levels of cushioning and a variety of different compounds which make up this midsole, the Ayako gives you high levels of support the longer you walk in them. Memo Foam is another unique technology specific for Mammut, this is located on the insole ensuring you with an individual fit as well as cushioning for the feet at the instep, shin and ankle giving you a plush feel. Finally, a lining and padding system takes account of the different areas of the foot to ensure less perspiration, less cold and prevention of pressure points leaving you feeling lighter on your feet with every step.
Vibram Mulaz Outsole
Mammut have partnered with Vibram to give you an outsole with high levels of traction and stability. The Mulaz outsole is perfect for mountaineering conditions with a self cleaning outsole, the outsole aims to keep you stable on all types of terrain whilst the 5mm lugs are ultra grippy keeping you as steady as possible.
