GORE-TEX Upper
The upper of the adidas Terrex Free Hiker has been constructed using a waterproof GORE-TEX membrane with COLD.RDY technology to keep your feet dry and protected as you take on the trail. GORE-TEX works tirelessly to shed water whilst retaining breathable properties to improve comfort and airflow. Assisting the GORE-TEX membrane is a shroud construction with a zip that provides complete coverage of the foot preventing water and debris from entering the shoe. Supplying flexible support, the textile upper increases ventilation and eradicates the build-up of sweat which is unavoidable during exercise. Sweat and moisture are wicked away from the feet leaving you feeling fresh and ready to push along the trails in extreme comfort. Providing warmth, the walking boots have been insulated with Primaloft made from Parley Ocean Plastics. This synthetic insulation traps heat in small air pockets and creates a barrier of warmth so your feet stay toasty even when temperatures drop. Abrasion-resistant reinforcements adorn the upper and protect from bumps and knocks. A traditional lacing closure works alongside a side zip to ensure your feet are locked in and secure to the boots, preventing in-boot slipping and helping you remain comfortable on every adventure. Completing the upper is a reflective logo which enhances visibility in low-light conditions.
BOOST Midsole
Developed to provide lightweight cushioning, the midsole of the Terrex Free Hiker 2 COLD.RDY has been constructed using adidas' signature BOOST cushioning. adidas takes cushioning to new heights, with their ultra-responsive midsole - BOOST. Tiny TPU capsules are moulded together to form a platform different to standard, solid foams; absorbing energy and then expelling it back out for a bounce-like effect. This energy return technology reduces superfluous muscle power, diminishing fatigue and enhancing performance; keeping you going for longer. The plush, responsive cushioning will spare your joints as you power down onto hard, unforgiving surfaces. BOOST also maintains its special function and bounce in conditions as low as -20 degrees, making it a reliable and durable midsole. Additionally, an EVA stabilisation frame further ensures stability and midfoot support, so you can tackle rough terrain, whilst feeling energised with every step.
Continental Winter Rubber Outsole
The Continental Rubber compound offers maximum traction on various surfaces. This highly durable compound provides grip on wet and dry surfaces whilst excelling in wintery conditions to reduce the chance of slipping. Delivering optimal traction, the Continental outsole uses the ideal combination of specialised rubbers and design. A strong lug pattern works equally well on hard and smooth or soft and loose surfaces to ensure optimum, multi-surface grip.
