With multiple technologies to enable you to take on the winter trails in warmth, comfort and control, the Merrell MTL Astrum Women's Trail Running Shoes provide exceptional heat retention, weather protection and traction control to keep you going in the freezing months.

Breathable Mesh Upper

Surrounding the upper of the MTL Astrum is a highly breathable mesh and lycra upper. Air is easily able to transfer in and out of the material to provide you with exceptional breathability and ventilation as you begin to exercise. The material can stretch in multiple directions, where it can then return to its original shape without any damage. The stretch the upper provides will also give you a personalised and extremely comfortable fit, which will ensure that you will be able to run in constant comfort. For when you are out on freezing cold days, the shoes will work hard to keep you feeling warm. The upper will reflect body heat back into the feet, keeping you warm and comfortable even in the coldest of conditions. The upper is surrounded by M Select Shield treatment, a water repellency treatment. This will work to wick moisture away on impact, reducing the chance of it penetrating the layer of material and making the feet wet. Thicker material surrounds the toes and heel, which will reduce the risk of injuries from knocks against the ground, and will hold the foot in a strong upright position. Quick laces will make it easy to adjust the laces to achieve an exceptionally comfortable fit whilst in a small amount of time. A lycra neoprene stretch collar makes it easy to put the shoes on or take them off, and will also guard against dirt and debris from the trails from entering the shoes and causing discomfort. A soft contoured insole will provide soft next to foot comfort, whilst it will also retain heat by reflecting it back towards the body.

Compression Moulded EVA Midsole

The compression moulded platform in the midsole features anatomically-inspired dual-directional flex grooves that support the natural motion of the foot. This technology promotes upward and downward flexibility for agility and stability on uneven terrain. The EVA unit works endlessly to reduce and disperse impact forces away from the foot providing a plush and comfortable feeling with every step. Additionally, protection is provided by a TrailProtect rock plate that will guard against heavy contacts under the foot. This technology protects the underfoot from sharp rocks or objects that you may come across on the trail.

Multi-Density Vibram Outsole

At the bottom of the MTL Astrum, there is a triple density Vibram outsole which will provide you with exceptional grip and traction in adverse conditions. Inspire by multi-density snow tyres, the rubber will form a strong bond with surfaces to anchor the feet in place. It will also grip into mud, snow and ice as it has deep lugs which offer stability and control. These FLEXconnect dual-directional flex-grooves will dig into the ground to hold you in place and assist with takeoffs, landings and changes of direction, giving you confidence that you won't be let down by the shoes and can push yourself faster without risk of falling. The rubber on the outsole is also extremely tough, and will stand up against abuse from below, improving the shoes long-term functionality. The whole production process and materials of the shoes are vegan friendly.
