Mountain Equipment Kryos Men's Down Jacket
The optimum combination of warmth, protection, and minimal weight; this down-insulated jacket is purpose built for winter alpine climbing and super alpinism in the greater ranges.
The Kryos was informed by feedback from some of the world's best Alpinists, climbers who were increasingly pushing lighter jackets onto ever higher and more technical routes in the search for low weight and pack size with ever diminishing margins. This is achieved through the FIRESTORM construction, with hybrid baffling that combines both conventional stitched-through and pleated baffles with a Drilite Loft shell to give maximum warmth and protection for the minimum weight and pack size. It offers up to 20% greater warmth with up to 20% lower weight with far lower water and wind ingress. The Drilite Loft is totally windproof and weather resistant, with a PFAS-free DWR to keep off the rain. Within the baffles lies 234g of 90/10 800 fill power Goose Down sourced through DOWN CODEX and the RDS 3.0 standard for animal welfare. The ultralightweight and breathable 10 denier lining gives exceptional moisture transfer, comfort and packability.
The jacket features a Halo neck collar, similar to that found in sleeping bags, to reduce heat loss, and a Super Alpine HC Hood provides extra coverage when you need it and is easily worn with a helmet. The jacket has a 2-way YKK moulded centre front zip with a lightweight offset rear baffle to minimise heat loss and wind ingress. The sleeves have been designed to offer unhindered mobility when climbing in all your layers, and the elasticated cuff construction ensures ease of use with gloves and a perfect seal to maximise warmth. Dual tether hem drawcords provide adjustment and increase thermal efficiency, and the jacket also has plenty of storage with 2 zipped handwarmer pockets, 2 chest pockets and 2 large inner drop pockets to store gloves, a water bottle and other items that need to be kept warm. Finally, the jacket packs into the provided stuff sack when not in use.
