GORE-TEX and Nubuck Leather Upper

The upper of the Quest 4 has been constructed using GORE-TEX. GORE-TEX is well known for its reliable waterproof properties as well as its superb breathability. This means that moisture is prevented from entering but cool air can permeate the upper, whilst heat and vapour are pushed out - ensuring dry wear. Nubuck leather has also been used on the upper. The leather is a hard-wearing material which will protect the foot as well as wrap it snugly for much-needed support. A protective cap has been placed across the heel and toe area of the boot to offer much-needed protection to these key areas which could potentially be damaged or feel discomfort if the boot is knocked against rocks, walls and various other loose terrains that are commonly found along the trail. These caps can also offer additional support, helping to hold the foot securely in place inside the boot. The gusseted tongue allows the boot to sit snugly against the skin without causing irritation and also helps to block dirt and loose debris entering the boot and becoming lodged inside. SensiFit cradles the foot from the midsole to the lacing system, providing a secure, snug, and virtually customized fit all around the foot. Lastly, a traditional lacing system with eyelets helps to firmly lock the foot and ankle down and prevents any excessive movement.

EnergyCell Midsole

Within the midsole, the boot has injected and compressed EVA which forms the EnergyCell midsole. This multi-functional midsole will provide both comfort and protection, as it has dual-density EVA. Towards the bottom, the EVA is extremely firm to absorb shocks instantly and effectively, preventing them from causing any damage to the sole of the foot. Energy produced from this will also be returned as rebound, which will give you an added spring in your step. The higher you get in the midsole, the EVA becomes less densely packed, making every step feel comfortable. In addition to this, between the outsole and the midsole, there is an ADV-C 4D Advanced chassis. This targets articulations on the outer foot to optimize stability without limiting your mobility and provides extra support around the heel. The higher cut provides extra ankle support, while also keeping the front of the boot flexible for a more fluid ride. A moulded OrthoLite sockliner is comfortable underfoot, offering superior cushioning, and works to wick away moisture keeping the feet cool and dry at all times.

All Terrain Contagrip Outsole

The Salomon Quest 4 GORE-TEX features an All Terrain Contagrip outsole, providing optimal traction. With a mix of compounds, innovative geometry and mixed densities, it gives the walking boots brilliant grip and durability, regardless of the terrain underneath. Utilising different combinations of harder, softer and grippier Contagrip compounds, the outsole provides the perfect blend of grip and durability to cover a multitude of terrains. Designed with specifically positioned forefoot flex grooves and self-cleaning multi-directional lugs, these outsoles are field tested and proven to dynamically tackle rugged terrains.
