The knit material allows for warm air to escape and, in turn, lets cool air circulate efficiently. The material also protects the foot from bumps and scrapes, and reduces distractions when racking up the miles. Updates such as a redesigned collar have been added by Altra to the Escalante for a more secure and locked-in ankle for minimal in-shoe slippage and elevated tongue details for maximised comfort against the foot with softer materials while alleviating pressure from the laces. Altra's original FootShape Fit provides room for your toes and space in the midfoot, giving a familiar Altra feel. Finally, a traditional lacing system has been used to ensure a locked-in midfoot for a supportive fit.

Featuring updated Altra EGO midsole foam, this new iteration of the Escalante provides exceptional comfort and connection to the ground for a stable but flexible and well-cushioned ride. With a stack height of 24mm, the Escalante 5 offers the perfect amount of cushioning and durability in the midsole for a comfortable feel on any trail. Altra's Innerflex technology has been integrated into the midsole, with grid-like grooves throughout to improve flexibility during the gait cycle and fluid movements.
