Engineered Mesh Upper

The upper of the Pegasus 42 has been crafted from an engineered mesh that's even more breathable than the previous model, while having a softer feel against the skin, for an irritation-free fit the moment you put them on. Perforations encourage air to flow freely around the shoe, releasing built-up heat and creating a healthier environment for your feet to thrive in. Just like previous versions, the mesh is designed to stretch, moving with your foot as though the shoe was made for you, while providing a secure hold as you move through the gait cycle. Nike has made the toebox wider than the Peagsus 41 using the new MR-10 2.0 Last, offering extra room for your toes while maintaining the shoe's great fit. A traditional lacing system that locks down the midfoot, reduces in-shoe movement and enhances support for distraction-free strides completes the upper.

Nike ReactX Midsole

Providing the same soft, lightweight feel you know and love, Nike uses ReactX foam to deliver a responsive ride while remaining durable for a long-lasting shoe. The foam's reactive nature means it absorbs impact when hitting hard, unforgiving surfaces below, then expels it through your next stride for a bounce-like effect, sparing joints and reducing the risk of injury. This energy-return technology slows fatigue while enhancing performance, keeping you running for longer. Updated for the 42, Nike has used a full-length Air Zoom Unit. This low-profile midsole feature combines pressurised air with internal fibres to deliver responsive cushioning that springs back fast so you can move faster. Using a full-length unit, Nike provided a more responsive and energetic ride than ever before, letting you run further, faster, before fatigue sets in. The shoes offer greater toe spring than the previous model thanks to the updated silhouette and increased curve in the toe box. This, combined with the extra room, enhances stability and, with the updated Zoom Air unit, allows you to move more quickly than before.

Rubber Outsole

Utilising an all-new waffle-inspired rubber outsole, the Pegasus 42 ensures enhanced traction in dry and wet conditions. The durable rubber provides a strong grip, protecting itself from damage and users from losing control and slipping. The rubber is placed in high-wear areas, with the full forefoot and sections of the heel, to increase durability and resist heel-strike trauma. The rubber has been removed from the midfoot to reduce weight. The new flex groove design allows the foot to move more naturally through the gait cycle, while increasing surface area for better grip and traction on the surface below.
