Matryx Upper
Showcasing a highly resistant upper, the X Ultra 5 Mid ensures protection from a variety of elements to make sure you reach your destination still swathed in dry comfort. The upper utilises Matryx , which is a high performance textile that is highly durable against possible bumps and snags while on unpredictable trails. Yarn threads have been individually coated in high-tenacity Kevlar to both improve durability while allowing air to freely enter the boots with ease. Perforations within the upper allow for air to circulate effectively around the foot, helping heat to escape and in turn allowing cool freshness to enter, reducing fatigue and boosting motivation to push onwards. Within the boot is a textile lining, this ensures better comfort as it is soft against the foot while staying super breathable and malleable for control over your movements. Implemented within the upper is a GORE-TEX membrane, which provides optimum protection on the trails by protecting your feet from rain and moisture in poor, changing weather, including snowy conditions. Salomon have also included their SensiFit technology within the X Ultra boots, stretching from the midsole to the lacing system, cradling the midfoot for a supported and confident step. This is complimented by the active support system of wings within the side panelling which adapt and learn the shape and volume of your foot for protection on uneven terrain. To increase comfort, the collar and tongue have plush padding to ensure a snug fit and reduce the amount of dirt and debris that can enter the shoe. This works alongside the traditional lacing system, that effectively locks the midfoot into place for minimal in-shoe movement. Finally, a heel pull tab has been added for assistance with easily slipping the boot on to get laced up and out as soon as possible.
EnergyCell Midsole
Within the midsole, the X Ultra utilises EnergyCell technology, providing both comfort and protection. Towards the bottom, the midsole is extremely firm, helping absorb shocks instantly, preventing them from causing damage. The energy produced will be returned as a rebound, which offers an added spring in your step. The higher in the midsole, the EVA becomes less dense, making every step feel comfortable. In addition, an Advanced Chassis also resides, which helps optimise stability without limiting your mobility. The higher cut provides extra ankle support, while also keeping the front of the boot flexible for a more fluid ride. A moulded OrthoLite sockliner completes the midsole, an extremely soft and comfortable compound that wicks moisture, keeping the feet cool and dry at all times.
All Terrain ContaGrip Outsole
An updated outsole to their predecessors, the X Ultra 5 features the ultra-grippy All-Terrain Contagrip outsole, providing you with an unmatched level of grip and traction on varied terrain. This improved compound means the boots will not only form a solid grip on the terrain but also shed mud quickly. This is due to their large lugs, providing the perfect level of grip on all types of terrain, including wet and muddy conditions. The deep lugs dig into the ground, anchoring you in place. This will benefit you by acting as a solid base to push off from when taking the next stride, as well as digging into the ground when braking or changing direction.
