Shoe Fit Scale

VJ have graded the fit on all their shoes from 1 to 5 to help you find the perfect fitting shoe. Grade 1 represents their most precise and narrow fit. On the other end of the scale, grade 5 has the widest fit. The lower the number on the scale, the narrower the fit, ensuring minimal movement of the foot, which is essential when running fast on technical terrain. The shoes with the higher numbers on the scale will suit people with wider feet and those who want extra comfort. A wider fit is usually preferred on longer runs and races because feet tend to swell during longer distances.

VJ have graded the Lightspeed 2 as Grade 3.

Multizone Engineered Mesh Upper

Created to protect your feet whilst being highly breathable, the Lightspeed 2 has been constructed using a multizone engineered mesh upper that is extremely lightweight and comfortable. Acting as a second skin, the mesh encourages cool, refreshing air to circulate while simultaneously removing unwanted warm air to help regulate temperature and create a perfect microclimate where feet can thrive. The one-piece upper keeps feet irritation-free, reducing hotspots and rubbing for distraction-free running. The shoe's heel is soft and made of anti-slip material to prevent the foot from slipping out during the performance. Keeping your foot secure, VJ has added their innovative Fitlock system, which offers an optimal fit for the shoe by locking the foot from the arch. It also protects the arch from the impact the foot faces while running.

SuperFOAMance Midsole

The midsole of the Lightspeed 2 has been created using nitrogen-infused foam that provides high energy return and responsiveness. This new foam is a modern, supercritical foam that is lighter, more responsive, more comfortable and more propulsive than a traditional EVA foam. Compared to other foams, SuperFOAMance is more durable and does not rip as easily. Infusing nitrogen into the foam, VJ has expanded their midsoles, increasing underfoot comfort and propulsion. The foam helps propel you forward, helping to increase speed while absorbing shocks and negative impact forces as you strike hard surfaces. This reduces stress on the joints and the risk of injury. Completing the midsole is a full-length rock plate, which protects the sole of your foot from sharp rocks and sticks. The rock plate also makes the shoe torsionally more rigid and decreases energy leakage.

Superior Contact Outsole

Featuring a unique outsole comprising of Butyl rubber, the Lightspeed utilises a Superior Contact outsole that ensures ultimate control and traction whilst on the road. The outsole can form a strong grip on various terrains, guaranteeing complete underfoot traction. Naturally tough, the outsole will maintain its shape and definition over time. 3.5mm multi-directional lugs have been meticulously shaped and positioned to improve propulsion at the front and braking at the rear. Measured spacing between the lugs prevents debris from sticking to the outsole while providing great grip in wet conditions.
