Mountain Equipment Gasherbrum Men's Down Jacket
An exceptionally warm ultra-light expedition down jacket, proven on the longest Polar journeys and the coldest routes at altitude.
The Gasherbrum provides crucial insulation for those going to the world's highest and coldest places in lightweight style where every gram counts. Proven on the longest human-powered Polar Journey in history, it was used for over 100 days on a return trip to the South Pole, and it's seen use up to 7000 and 8000 metres by experienced users taking alpine style climbing to the highest mountains. It is made with DRILITE LOFT 30D for the outer, which is totally windproof and highly weather resistant, with PFAS-free DWR to keep the rain off. The jacket is insulated with 360g of DOWN CODEX sourced goose down with a minimum content of 90/10 800 fill power to keep you cosy. The Gasherbrum has a full box wall construction for maximum warmth, with each baffle being optimised in shape and size to maximise the performance and loft of the fill. Mountain Equipment's elasticated EXL system in the back of the jacket helps this further. The EXL system adds no weight to the jacket, but gently hugs the user to dramatically reduce dead space between layers and greatly reduce compression of the down. The Super Alpine HC Hood with an EXL lining helps provide extra coverage when you need it most, and easily accommodates a helmet when needed. Adjustable cuffs and dual tether hem drawcords help you seal out the elements and a plethora of pockets, including 2 zipped hand warmer pockets, an internal mesh water bottle holder and a zipped security pocket provide plenty of storage. Finally, the 2-way YKK moulded zip makes on/off easy and lies behind an offset insulated storm-flap.
