GORE-TEX and Nubuck Leather Upper

Constructed using a combination of Nubuck leather and ripstop fabric, these boots are much lighter than previous models, while remaining durable. The leather is a hard-wearing material that protects the foot and wraps it snugly for much-needed support. The ripstop fabric increases the boots' breathability, allowing cool air to circulate through the boot while releasing built-up heat for a comfortable wear, start to finish. The upper of the Quest 5 includes a GORE-TEX membrane. GORE-TEX prevents rain and moisture from entering the boot, but remains breathable, allowing heat and vapour to escape to keep feet dry from the inside out. A protective mudguard has been placed around the base of the foot to protect the lateral and medial sides, which could be damaged or feel discomfort if the boot is knocked against rocks, walls and other debris commonly found along the trail. This can also offer additional support, helping to hold the foot securely in place inside the boot. The gusseted tongue allows the boot to sit snugly against the skin without irritating, while helping block dirt and loose debris from entering the boot and becoming lodged inside. SensiFit cradles the foot from the midsole to the lacing system, providing a secure, snug, and virtually customised fit. Lastly, a traditional lacing system with eyelets helps to firmly lock the foot and ankle down and prevents any excessive movement.

EnergyCell Midsole

The Quest 5 uses an injected and compressed EVA, which forms the EnergyCell midsole. This multi-functional midsole will provide both comfort and protection, due to the dual-density EVA. Towards the bottom, the EVA is extremely firm to absorb shocks instantly and effectively, preventing damage to the sole. Energy produced from this will also be returned as rebound, giving you an added spring in your step. The higher you get in the midsole, the EVA becomes less densely packed, making every step feel comfortable. In addition, between the outsole and the midsole, there is a 4D Advanced chassis. This targets articulations on the outer foot to optimise stability without limiting your mobility and provides extra support around the heel. The higher cut provides extra ankle support, while also keeping the front of the boot flexible for a more fluid ride. A moulded OrthoLite sockliner is comfortable underfoot, offering superior cushioning, while wicking away moisture, keeping the feet cool and dry at all times.

All Terrain Contagrip Outsole

The Salomon Quest 5 GORE-TEX features an All Terrain Contagrip outsole, providing optimal traction. With a mix of compounds, innovative geometry and mixed densities, it gives the walking boots a brilliant grip and durability, regardless of the terrain underneath. Utilising different combinations of harder, softer and grippier Contagrip compounds, the outsole provides the perfect blend of grip and durability to cover a multitude of terrains. Designed with specifically positioned forefoot flex grooves and self-cleaning multi-directional lugs, these outsoles are field-tested and proven to tackle rugged terrains.
